Slumrat Rising
Wierd feeling. Really. Slumrat Rising was my first "I'm going to make this my career" book, and it was... incredible. Genuinely incredible. I see where I made mistakes, of course. I completely understand why so many people bounced off the book. But I also see that people loved it. They resonated with the charicters, they argued about the philosophy, they came along for the journey. It's a cliche to call something a learning experience, but it really was. It was also beyond validating. I wrote a book. It got published. There is an audio book read by a genuine article voice actor, and it's really, really good. So when I look back at Slumrat Rising, I see where I went wrong as an author and where I went right, as a human being. Because even when I'm stressed, or depressed, or anxious, or just plain frustrated, I know I'm doing the job I love. A job that is bringing me more satisfaction than any other job I have ever done.

And now it's stubbed. Due to the demands of Amazon's Kindle Unlimited program, it's vanishing off the platform that gave it, and me, an audience. I want to take a moment, now, to express my heartfelt thanks to Wing, Mod John, Kana and the rest of the Royal Road team. They have consistantly done their best to improve the site and keep it from turning into the hellscapes so many other web novel sites descend into.
I just deleted a rambling paragraph about all the things Royal Road does better than other, inferior, webnovel platforms. Just... on the author side? It's a lot. A LOT.
Royal Road gave me a platform to build a career. It gave me a place to connect to all of you, the readers. The audience that has supported me on Patreon, that buys my books, that gives me the confidence to keep on writing. Thank you all so much.
