Hell Game: Starting from the Metropolis

Chapter 98: Something Feels Totally Off

Chapter 98: Something Feels Totally Off

"Boom!"The massive artillery shell and rocket launcher shot into the sky, then exploded violently.

Flames, shockwaves, and streams of metal pushed aside the clouds, revealing the blood-red full moon.

The fully empowered Werewolf roared at the sky, its sharp claws tearing out continuous wind blades that sliced through the fiery clouds.

The Priest, however, made no other moves, simply holding a scripture book and murmuring incantations.

Only when the fiery clouds were mere inches from their heads did he finally raise the scripture.

Beams of golden holy light enveloped all the players, coating them in a layer of golden protection.

The fiery clouds completely descended, burning the entire village into ruins.

Yet, all players were protected by the holy light, completely unharmed.

The remaining fiery clouds gathered back into Liu Zheng, who could no longer maintain human form, becoming a charred silhouette.

Flames still burned, but they had weakened considerably.

Facing this scene, the Priest didn't seize the opportunity to counterattack.

"Go!"

He dispelled the golden protection, then shouted loudly, leading the way as he ran toward the village outskirts.

The others reacted quickly too—the wolf pack followed the Priest, and the Hunter activated the tank.

As long as they could stall until Liu Zheng self-destructed, they could win without fighting.

They had all heard his earlier speech—who knew if this clever guy was pretending to be weak?

Just then, Player 7 suddenly pulled out a paintbrush and stabbed it into her own chest.

"Announcement: Guardian obtains Divine Favor Card: Imprisoning Domain."

"Effect: Extract power as Morgana, turning an area into a forbidden zone."

"Game rules changed."

"Guardian can choose between helping the Witch or killing the Witch."

"If choosing to help the Witch, must ensure the Witch is the last surviving player—Guardian and Witch win together."

"If choosing to kill the Witch, must ensure you are the direct killer of the Witch—Guardian wins alone."

Hearing the announcement, both Liu Zheng and the other players' expressions changed slightly.

Clearly, Player 7 was the one who had hidden the deepest.

And now, she controlled the balance of the game.

"I'm very jealous of you, Little Red Riding Hood."

"I was born before you, and I learned witchcraft before you."

"Yet you mastered in three months what took me three years to learn."

"Mom chose self-sacrifice to protect you, Grandma chose to sacrifice me to protect you."

"She said you were the most excellent Morgana, and I was your guardian knight on your path to becoming a great witch."

"But I don't want to be a knight—I'm also a Morgana, I also want to become a great witch."

Player 7 tore off her cloak, revealing armor underneath. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ ????????????????????•????????????????•????????????

"I'm still jealous of you, so jealous that I want to kill you with my own hands."

"When you drank the Blasphemy Mixture, my jealousy drove me insane."

"I cannot allow you to surpass me in courage too."

"I, Nightingale, am the bravest of the Morgana family."

"I was before, I am now, and I will be forever."

Player 7 pulled the paintbrush from her chest, transforming it into a cross sword forged from blood.

She pointed the cross sword at the sky, and massive crimson light swords fell one after another, encircling the entire village.

"Go enjoy your stage play, remember—I'm giving this to you."

"Without me, you could accomplish nothing."

After speaking, Player 7 fell backward, her entire body transforming into a blood cross branded upon the earth.

The Priest, Werewolf, and Hunter frantically attacked the surrounding sealing cross swords. The cross swords trembled continuously but held firm.

Having received the Guardian's help, Liu Zheng didn't feel much joy.

Where did this scene-stealing guy come from?

I'm the damn protagonist!

"The ugly souls I have purified."

"The witch's path I have walked to its end."

"The sinful faith I am about to destroy."

"From now on, a crown of righteousness awaits me."

Liu Zheng chanted loudly, his body dissipating into flames once more.

But this time, it wasn't black fire and lightning—instead, it carried blood and gunpowder smoke.

Just like Rust.

Numb.

The other players now felt only two words in their hearts: completely numb.

Are we really just part of your two-person play?

Can't escape, can't win.

After some rather unenthusiastic struggling, the Priest, Werewolf, and Hunter were all burned to ashes.

Liu Zheng glanced toward the forest, where a gaze both pure and turbid met his across the distance.

He knew that was the Forest Spirit's gaze.

It was waiting for Little Red Riding Hood to give it release.

Unfortunately, there was no time left.

The final flames extinguished, leaving only a hat-like mark imprinted at the center of the blood cross.

"Daybreak, players please open your eyes."

Liu Zheng opened his eyes, finding himself back in the room.

All players sat in their seats, but their looks toward him varied greatly.

"Game over, Witch faction wins."

"Congratulations to Player 8 and Player 7."

The Mermaid applauded.

The other players gave half-hearted applause before leaving the room.

Only Liu Zheng, the Mermaid, and Player 7 remained.

"What a pity, you didn't achieve the ultimate ending."

The Mermaid said regretfully.

"The ultimate ending requires eliminating the Forest Spirit and the Tyrant too?"

"More than that—also the merchant group."

The Mermaid shook her head.

"After one more night, the merchant group will arrive in the village. Only by eliminating all those big merchants can you achieve the ultimate ending."

"I can't wait that long."

Liu Zheng said.

With only 6 people left in the second daytime round, the chances of the good guys losing were still quite high.

"But achieving the Blasphemy ending is still quite impressive."

The Mermaid nodded.

"Among all the Werewolf survival games of this version that I've hosted, you're the only one who achieved this ending. Moreover, your performance was very spectacular. When we adapt this into a scripted murder mystery game, Little Red Riding Hood's performance in this ending will be modeled after you."

Her look toward Liu Zheng was quite appreciative.

"Aren't you going to praise me? Without me, he might have failed."

Player 7 interjected.

Only then did Liu Zheng notice that Player 7's voice was somewhat androgynous.

"You're very impressive too."

The Mermaid's voice seemed somewhat doting.

Something's off about these two—very, even nine-tenths off.

Alarm bells rang in his heart.

"By the way, I haven't given you your prize yet."

The Mermaid said.

She closed her eyes, seemingly communicating with some existence.

"Because you achieved the 'Blasphemy' ending, the Door is very happy—it's allowing you to choose your own prize."

After a moment, she opened her eyes and spoke.

"Then I want that 'Blasphemy Mixture'."

Liu Zheng said without hesitation.

Although the side effects are huge, it's powerful.

Drink one mouthful, and you can directly punch Delago, kick Napoleon, ride Bullhorse to deliver takeout, and turn anyone who dares refuse into staff meal.

What? You say it only lasts one hour?

Some people's entire lives combined don't contain as much excitement as this one hour.

Besides, it's not like he's short on mutual destruction items—one more won't hurt.

"That's impossible, unless you achieve the perfect ending would there be any hope."

The Mermaid directly vetoed Liu Zheng's request.

"What's the perfect ending?"

"That's a secret."

The Mermaid said playfully.

"Fine then, I want that Priest's invincible holy light."

Liu Zheng shrugged.

"Let me ask about that one."

The Mermaid closed her eyes again.
