Chapter 231 Reserved Project
Chapter 231 Reserved Project
As the fireworks of reward points continued to rise, a scream came from the west side of the spectator seats. Lilith followed their gaze and saw that the White Team had finally won the prize. A black mist suddenly rose from the box, and the familiar and teeth-grinding sound of the mouthparts trembling was heard.
"Here it comes!" Instructor Hurst said in a deep voice, sitting up straight.
A huge beast claw poked out from the diffuse black fog, and the hairless skin seemed to be flowing with stars, emitting an eerie light.
This time, the contestants were no longer as unprepared for danger as they were last year. They knew very well that this might be the biggest threat in the entire arena, so when the black fog erupted, they had already gathered quickly, and the magicians chanted at a rapid speed.
"Squeak, creak, creak." A horrible cry was heard, and the monster passed through the black fog and saw the humans who were ready for battle. It was not as hesitant as it was last year, and it did not hesitate for even a second. Its huge tail was bent tightly, giving it a huge thrust, allowing it to pounce directly at the crowd.
There was a loud thud, and the magic shield rose up in time. The monster hit the shield hard, and only relied on its huge and powerful strength to hold it up and not fall down.
It stood up and shook its head. Its emotionless eyes focused on every person behind the shield, saliva dripping from its mouth, as if it was thinking about how to devour them one by one.
"So many monsters have been replaced, why is this thing still here?" Sean was speechless with a headache.
"It seems this is a reserved event." Lilith thought, and then looked at Bobby who was sitting behind her, "Are you sure you want to compete against this thing? Your partner is Sean!"
"Hey, hey! Lilith, what do you mean?" Sean said dissatisfiedly, "Bobby and I have a tacit understanding as a team. What monster can't we deal with? Right Bobby!"
He turned his head and hoped that Bobby would join him in fighting back, but Bobby only looked into the stadium with a telescope, and suddenly asked -
"Have you heard the story of the void beast?"
"Isn't this nonsense? Why don't you ask me if I can eat." Sean rolled his eyes. No matter whether he had been to school or not, how could anyone not know the history of the Gaia Empire's fight against the void? That was a holy war!
"When I was a kid, I loved listening to stories about holy wars." Bobby still held up the monocular and squinted his other eye to observe the scene. "I heard my grandfather tell his grandfather a story. The Void Beast he described looks a bit like this guy..."
"How is that possible!" Sean retorted without hesitation, "That thing has long been extinct."
"I know, I know! I only said it's a bit similar, but it's still very different." He said, looking at the huge fish tail.
"This is a man-made thing, maybe it was inspired by a legendary monster." Lilith said casually. "That's called being prepared for danger in times of peace."
On the playing field, thorny vines broke out of the ground and entangled themselves around the Void Beast. The blade-like leaves pierced into its body little by little as the Void Beast struggled. Dark purple blood flowed out and dripped onto the grass with a "hissing" sound. The grass seemed to be corroded by strong acid and withered beneath it.
"It's not that scary! Keep going!" The commander of the white team shouted, opened his hand and pulled out a huge bow made of blue light out of thin air. As he chanted continuously, a blue light arrow condensed into shape. He pulled the bow until it was like a full moon before letting go.
The arrow of light brushed past the sides of the guardians in the front row and flew straight towards the monster, hitting him in the abdomen. Then the blue light dissipated, leaving a huge bloody hole.
"So cool! I want to learn this, too!" Lilith's eyes lit up, and she marveled at the gorgeousness and coolness of the advanced spells amid the monster's wailing.
The Void Beast was almost dead as soon as it appeared. It retreated without caring about the vines scraping its skin and flesh. These people were on full alert and firing at full force, but it actually wanted to avoid the battle and look for other weak targets that were alone. Eat! Eat to recover!
Not far away, there was Patton standing under the oak guard!
"It's been beaten back! Quick! Let's continue looking for points!" A guardian saw that the monster had lost its will to fight, put away his sword and shouted.
"But it's heading towards Patton!" Although the boy in the distance was not on the same team as them and was also a competitor, the commander of the white team hesitated at this moment. He didn't want to see the classmate who usually joked together fall into crisis.
He opened his mouth and arms again and began to chant, and arrows of light began to condense again.
"Hold it! It will disappear in a few minutes!" A girl in the team immediately understood the command and began to cast spells in the direction of the monster in a rapid manner in an attempt to slow down its pace.
Fortunately, the damage caused by the previous arrow was great enough, and the monster's movements became noticeably sluggish, no longer as agile as before. The girl's random small spells hit it several times in a row.
It became even more furious, roaring as it ran towards Patton, who had lost touch with his teammates.
"Damn it, why is it me again!?" Although Patton was holding the sword, he was ready to be eliminated.
"Bang!" The huge branch bent and smashed from above. The Void Beast was caught off guard and was hit in the spine. Patton was closest to it and only heard a sound of bones breaking. By the time the oak guard raised his thick branch, the monster's lower body was already a bloody mess, almost a pool of mud.
At the same time, the light arrow whizzed over, and this time, it hit the monster's heart directly. The monster let out a last shrill wail, and disintegrated into black mist again, disappearing on the spot.
They succeeded in killing him! Catherine stood up suddenly, almost sticking to the barrier of the stadium, and then she couldn't help but look at the teacher's seat. Professor Colin was indeed looking at her quietly.
"She's getting proud again..." Colin looked at the sparkling look in Catherine's eyes and spoke in a cold tone.
"The world will belong to them young people sooner or later, Colin." Jacqueline was standing next to Colin and smiled when she heard this.
Colin moved his lips, but in the end he said nothing.
Huge fireworks shot up into the sky, shining brighter than any before. After the magic fireworks shone, they formed a clear number -
100.
This monster is actually worth so many points! The other teams' eyes are red!
After a moment of silence, the whole audience burst into huge cheers!
"That's right! Cheer! They deserve your applause!" Instructor Hurst's tone was full of pride and joy.
"This is a reward for the brave!"
