124 The Hidden Truth
124 The Hidden Truth
Makijuro thinks Kyojuro is crazy.
There is nothing glorious about thinking your son is crazy.
Neither the matter itself nor the idea that he would have can be called a good thing.
So he rejected the idea.
It would be more reasonable to say that someone deliberately led him to believe that Kyojuro was crazy.
Otherwise why would Kyojuro mention that name.
"He said his name was Rinko..."
Almost instantly, all the muscles in his body went from relaxed to tense, his heart twitched violently, and the book was thrown out like a blade. The loud bang when it hit the wall symbolized the raging anger in his chest.
"Who told you to mention that name?"
There was no way Kyojuro knew Rinko's name. The boy had been dead for so many years, there was no way he really knew that boy. Rinko was dead, without even a bone left, he had turned into dust somewhere unknown.
Was it a former enemy, or someone they disagreed with? Who told Kyojuro this name, and who deliberately made him mention it? How could he dare to mention it so easily?
"Who gave you permission to say that name?"
This was venting one's anger on someone, this was... Makijuro knew it clearly and expressed it clearly and accurately.
This is a name that is not allowed to be mentioned, symbolizing the past that is not allowed to be mentioned. It is a part of Makijuro's soul that was buried underground with Ruka.
"That's the boy I met on the train! Father! Rinkou said he knew you, and that he'd known you for many years! So I thought! I should at least come back and tell you!"
Unable to contain his anger, the wine jug shattered into pieces, spilling wine all over the floor. The flying fragments almost cut Kyojuro's cheek, but the brat still didn't know how to shut up.
"He asked me if I was well! I answered truthfully! When he first saw me, he even said your name! I thought maybe you two really knew each other!"
The pair of eyes that stared at him intently were just like the boy he once was, and just like the boy he once was. This realization brought Makijuro's rage to its peak, and the beast in his chest roared at his son through his skin.
"Get out! Don't ever mention that name again!"
The door was closed again and everything returned to calm, except his heart.
Rinkou had died a long time ago. He didn't know where Kyojuro had heard the news from, nor did he know how much he had learned. He couldn't imagine what the person who told him all this wanted to do, and why Kyojuro really brought all this news back.
There were too many questions, and he didn't want to think about any of them.
He just hoped that everything would continue as it was, maintain the status quo, and go on. The dead would just die, and the living would just continue to live, just like that.
-
Makijuro originally thought that this lesson would be enough to make Kyojuro remember that it would be best not to mention that taboo name again in the rest of his life.
But Kyojuro obviously didn't think so.
"Father. Rinko..."
The boy was as passionate as fire, and this time, the fire burned him.
“It’s actually a ghost!”
Makijuro was actually not sure which one was wrong, his brain or his ears, or maybe the one with the problem was Kyojuro in front of him. Maybe he was really crazy, which was why he could say such nonsense.
The huge anger almost disappeared in an instant, and Makijuro even felt that he was no longer angry, he almost laughed.
"Kyojuro. Do you know what you're talking about?"
It had been a long time since he had called the boy in front of him like this.
The other party paused slightly because of the long-awaited call, but still looked at him with those eyes, firm and sure, even the tone of voice.
"Yes! I know exactly what I'm talking about! I mean! Rinko! It's a ghost!"
Makijuro felt that he was the one who was going crazy now.
He could sense from Kyojuro's subtle movements how much pressure he was putting on the other party.
His hands were neatly placed on his knees, and every finger was tense. His breathing became heavier, his Adam's apple rolled unconsciously, and his back was probably soaked with cold sweat. But Kyojuro still knelt there, motionless, not avoiding or evading, and even with a smile on his face.
"This is truly unbelievable! I didn't realize this until Rinko revealed his identity himself! But he was indeed taken away by Upper Rank Three! And I saw numbers in his eyes! It was Upper Rank Zero! He is indeed a demon!"
This is hard to understand, this passage is hard to understand, this matter is hard to understand, all of this is completely beyond the scope of Makijuro's brain.
Is Rinko a ghost? That boy who is so fragile that he can be blown away by a gust of wind, is he a ghost?
How can it be?
If it was a ghost, how could he not have noticed it at all? They had been together day and night for so long, and there was not a trace of ghost on Lingguang's body. He was harmless and non-aggressive. He was rational, kind, and gentle. He was like a little guy bathing other people's bodies like moonlight. Was it a ghost?
Even if we put that aside, how could it be possible? Makijuro clearly remembered that he had doubted Rinkou. The boy's height, body shape, appearance, and even weight had barely changed, but that was probably due to his frail body.
He had experimented with wisteria flowers, tried it with human food, they had encountered ghosts, and Rinko wouldn't feel anything wrong with injured people, so how could he be a ghost...
"This is impossible... You must have made a mistake. Rinkou has been dead for a long time. Maybe you just met a ghost named Rinkou, or that ghost is the culprit who killed Rinkou. Yes, it must be like this. That child can't be a ghost. I know..."
Makijuro muttered to himself softly, his logic and reason were in chaos. His brain, which had been paralyzed by alcohol for too long, was unable to clearly draw an objective conclusion. He had to question Kyojuro's inference from every possible detail.
----
----
The anger did not come. Compared to the expected shock, the man's reaction was almost calm to the point of being terrifying. Kyojuro could clearly feel the invisible oppression. It was the power that his father, who was once a pillar, still retained to this day to suppress him.
But this feeling of oppression did not last long.
He was clearly just stating what he had seen, but his words seemed more hurtful than any other time he had ever spoken. Kyojuro could clearly see the changes in the expression on Makijuro's face.
From the last trace of quiet indifference before the storm to the astonishment when she heard him say it all, that astonishment lasted for a long time. The head drooped, the palms supporting the ground slowly tightened, and the blood vessels bulged clearly.
-
This was a face of his father that Kyojuro had never seen before.
He had seen his father depressed, drunk, angry, happy, and sad, but he had never seen a father like this. He seemed not to believe what he said, but he was explaining it in a fragmented way that no one could understand. Compared to an adult, his father at this moment looked even more immature than Chijuro who stayed outside.
"Father, the lord has invited you to this meeting, and I hope you can come with me. This is what the lord sent over this morning, sent by crow. I hope you'll at least take a look."
Kyojuro didn't say anything more. He took the folded letter out of his arms, put it on the ground, and pushed it towards the man in front of him. Then he stood up, bowed, and obediently left for the time being.
Kyojuro doesn't know what kind of connection there is between his father and Rinko, but if Rinko is really a ghost, and if he really has known his father for many, many years as he said.
The father who now knows that Rinkou is a ghost is probably suffering from pain that Kyojuro cannot imagine.
As a son, he shouldn't have stayed there and witnessed all that.

【tips:
The part mentioned before is officially released.
As to why Kyojuro went back and told Makijuro about Rinko, but Makijuro still didn't realize what was going on.
In fact, to put it simply, let me give you an analogy. It's like you come from a family of police officers, and there's a very obedient and cute little brother next door who likes to follow you and play with you because he's not afraid of the dead dog left at the door and doesn't want to go to the police station with you. You think he's a criminal, but after checking, you find out that he has no criminal record, so you feel relieved and continue to be friends with him.
Later he grew up with you. He was always seriously ill and you worried about him every day, but fortunately he always persevered and watched you get married and have children. Then one day you went to work and when you came back you found that the house next door had burned down and there was not even ashes left.
You will often feel sad because of this. Then one day when you come home, your son tells you that he saw the child who died long ago, and he comes to ask if you are healthy on behalf of the child.
Of course you're in good health, healthy enough to break the necks of your son and the jerk who told your son all this, to tell them not to make fun of you about dead people.
But he was your son, you didn't do anything to him, you just told him to get out when he got too arrogant.
Then your son will come back in half a month and tell you.
"Father, that kid is a serial killer."
Now, what do you think?
That's probably what happened. In Makijuro's mind, Rinkou is dead, and Kyojuro's inexplicable mention of the dead child is almost the same as mentioning Kocho Shinobu's sister in front of her, Tanjiro's father in front of his father, and Saneya's mother in front of his father.
Although Rinkou was not "killed by a demon", in some ways, in Makijuro's opinion, it was even more tragic than that. 】
