Chapter 1299 Ran away
Chapter 1299 Ran away
"Your Majesty, rest assured, I have a plan." The shadowy figure said, taking out a small porcelain bottle from his robes and handing it to Min Yue: "This is a concealment powder. After taking it, it will temporarily shield your aura, making it difficult for the guards to detect you. After Your Majesty takes it, follow behind me and do not make any noise."
Min Yue took the porcelain bottle, poured out a black pill without hesitation, and swallowed it.
The pill melted instantly in her mouth, and a cool sensation spread throughout her body, gradually calming her trembling body caused by the cold, and even making her breathing much lighter.
Seeing this, the shadowy figure nodded and turned to walk towards the door.
He took out a thin wire from his pocket, inserted it into the lock, and turned it gently a few times. With a soft "click," the door opened.
Outside the gate, the pale moonlight illuminated the guards patrolling the courtyard. They carried torches and paced back and forth with heavy steps, their faces full of weariness and impatience.
The shadowy figure gestured for Min Yue to follow behind him, his movements as elusive as a ghost as he darted through the shadows. His steps were light, each leap precisely avoiding the guards' sight, as he led Min Yue slowly along the corner of the wall.
Min Yue followed closely behind the shadowy figure, her heart pounding and her palms sweating profusely. She was terrified that she might make a sound and attract the attention of the guards, which would shatter all her hopes.
Just as they were about to cross the courtyard and approach the gate of the Cold Palace, a guard suddenly stopped and looked in the direction where they were hiding: "Who's there?" the guard shouted, raising his torch high and illuminating the shadows in the corner.
Min Yue was so frightened that she froze and instinctively wanted to back away.
The shadowy figure grabbed her and pinned her against the wall, while simultaneously pulling out a poisoned dagger from his robes and staring coldly at the guard.
The guard slowly stepped forward, the torchlight illuminating the silhouette's profile. It was an expressionless face, bearing a hideous scar, its eyes as cold as ice.
"It's you? Someone from the Heavenly Mandate Palace?" A hint of surprise and anger flashed in the guard's eyes, clearly recognizing the figure in black.
The shadowy figure didn't answer. With a flash, it charged towards the guard like an arrow released from a bow. The short blade drew a sharp arc in the moonlight, aiming straight for the guard's throat.
The guard reacted swiftly, immediately raising his sword to parry. A loud clang rang out, the sound of metal clashing jarringly loud in the silent night air.
"Assassin!" the guard shouted as he parried the attack, his voice waking the other guards in the courtyard.
Instantly, countless torches lit up, and guards rushed over, surrounding the dark figure and Min Yue.
"Oh no!" Min Yue thought to herself, not expecting to alert so many guards.
The shadowy figure remained expressionless, his short blade wielding with increasing ferocity, each strike deadly.
He was originally one of the top assassins in the Heavenly Mandate Hall, with superb martial arts skills, and ordinary guards were no match for him. But now, the guards outnumbered him and were all armed, so it would not be easy for him to break through with Min Yue, who did not know martial arts.
"Your Majesty, you go first!" The dark figure shouted to Min Yue while fighting with the guards, "There is a secret passage on the right side of the gate. I have cleared the obstacles for you. Just follow the secret passage and you will be able to leave the palace."
"No!" Min Yue refused without hesitation: "If you stay, they will definitely capture you!"
"My life belongs to the Palace Master and Your Highness, I deserve no regrets!" the dark figure said, suddenly exerting force to knock back the two guards in front of him, while shoving Min Yue at the same time: "Your Highness, hurry! It will be too late if you wait any longer!"
Min Yue watched the shadowy figure fight valiantly, covered in blood, and felt a mix of emotions. She knew the shadowy figure was telling the truth; if they delayed any longer, neither of them would be able to escape.
She gritted her teeth, turned around, and ran in the direction the shadowy figure had indicated.
Seeing this, the shadowy figure smiled with a hint of relief, which was quickly replaced by a chilling killing intent. He wielded his short blade even faster, like a black whirlwind, repelling the approaching guards one by one. Blood splattered on him, staining his black clothes, but it did nothing to hinder his movements.
Min Yue ran quickly along the corner of the wall to the right side of the gate. Sure enough, there was an inconspicuous entrance to a secret passage, covered by weeds. She bent down, pushed aside the weeds, and slipped into the passage.
The secret passage was dark and damp, filled with a putrid stench.
Min Yue continued along the secret passage, the soil beneath her feet soft, occasionally punctuated by small stones that made a soft sound. She dared not linger, focusing solely on running forward, her mind filled with only one thought: to escape the palace, find the Lord of the Heavenly Mandate Hall, and seek revenge.
After running for an unknown amount of time, a glimmer of light finally appeared at the end of the secret passage. Min Yue was overjoyed and quickened her pace, running towards the light.
Emerging from the secret passage, she found herself in a dense forest. Moonlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows. The fresh air rushed towards her, finally allowing Min Yue's tense nerves to relax a little.
She glanced back at the entrance to the secret passage, silently praying that the shadowy figure would escape safely.
Then she turned and ran deeper into the forest. She knew that the palace guards would soon discover her escape and send men to hunt her down; she had to leave this place as soon as possible and find a safe place to hide.
The forest was shrouded in mist, and the path was rugged. Min Yue stumbled and fell, her body scratched in several places by branches, and her clothes tattered. But she didn't care at all; the fire of revenge in her heart sustained her as she continued forward.
She ran for an unknown amount of time before finally collapsing from exhaustion under a large tree. She gasped for breath, her body aching unbearably, and her vision blurred.
Just as she was about to lose consciousness, a familiar figure appeared before her. "Your Majesty, are you alright?"
Min Yue struggled to lift her head and saw the person who had come in. It was Rong Jue, the Grand Protector of the Heavenly Mandate Hall.
Seeing her like that, he couldn't help but sigh, "How did you get yourself into such a sorry state? If the Palace Master were still alive, he would surely be heartbroken to see you like this!"
Overwhelmed with grief, Min Yue said in a hoarse voice, "The Holy Maiden and the others are the culprits. I cannot quell my hatred without killing them!"
Rong Jue reached out to help her up, frowned, and looked towards the direction of the palace, saying, "Don't worry, they will all die!"
He took Min Yue back to a residence and ordered people to take good care of her.
When the Holy Maiden arrived at the Cold Palace, she saw a gruesome corpse lying on the ground.
She frowned and asked, "Who is this? Where is Min Yue?"
The captain of the guards immediately knelt on the ground and begged for forgiveness: "Your Majesty, I am incompetent and let her escape!"
Anger surged in the saintess's eyes; she hadn't expected things to turn out this way.
