Chapter 126 Applying for Dormitory
Chapter 126 Applying for Dormitory
The next day, Ning Yao went straight to Vice President Gong's office to apply for a dormitory.
When she reached the office door, she knocked and heard Vice Principal Gong's voice: "Come in."
Ning Yao pushed open the door and greeted him with a smile, "Hello, Vice President Gong. I have something I want to discuss with you."
Vice Principal Gong looked up at her, his expression not very enthusiastic: "Oh, Teacher Ning Yao, what's going on? Why are you looking for me so urgently?"
Ning Yao didn't beat around the bush and said directly, "This is it, Vice President Gong, I would like to apply for a dormitory at the school."
Vice Principal Gong frowned upon hearing this. "Dormitory? That's a difficult matter. The school has its own policies. You've just arrived and are still a young teacher. You haven't even participated in a competition yet. If you want a dormitory, you have to follow the rules. First come, first served. You understand, right?"
Ning Yao felt uncomfortable upon hearing this, but she patiently explained, "Vice Principal Gong, I understand what you mean. But as far as I know, doesn't the school have a policy for young female teachers? Didn't teachers like Han and Hua get nice dormitories according to this policy? Why can't I?"
Vice Principal Gong's face darkened upon hearing this. "Are you questioning my fairness? Can everyone's situation be the same? Teacher Xiao Han is a military family member and has made special contributions. Teacher Xiao Hua married a member of our school family. According to policy, they should be assigned good dormitories. What about you? Which situation do you fall into?"
Speaking of this, Vice Principal Gong was furious. He remembered the incident in which his son Gong Xiaolu was implicated by Ning Yao. He had been holding a grudge in his heart for a long time and wanted to teach Ning Yao a lesson.
This opportunity has finally come.
He snorted coldly and continued, "Teacher Ning Yao, do you think this school is run by your family? You have to give whatever you want?"
If you want to get a dormitory on campus through me, there's no way! You'll just have to rent a house outside for the rest of your life!
Ning Yao was a little angry, knowing that Gong Weidong was deliberately making things difficult for her. She had actually found out clearly before coming that she met the policy requirements.
The reason why she came to see Vice Principal Gong was because she didn't want to trouble her father. Even if the dormitory she applied for was in worse condition or she had to live with other female teachers, she was willing to accept it.
"Vice Principal Gong, I understand your difficulties. However, I still hope that the school can treat every teacher fairly. Even if the dormitory conditions assigned to me are a little worse, it doesn't matter. I meet the policy requirements."
Gong Weidong snorted coldly, he directly understood Ning Yao's words as weakness.
"Then you can go live in the student dormitory. I can still arrange for you to stay there. As far as I know, there are still a few eight-person rooms in the girls' dormitory that are not full. You can go there!"
"I'm a teacher, why would you assign me to a student dormitory?"
"That's all we can do." Gong Weidong leaned back in his chair, picked up his teacup, and slowly drank his tea. "Teacher Xiaoning, think carefully. When the next batch of new students arrive, I'm afraid there won't even be any student dormitories left."
How dare you be so rude to my son? Now you have no place to live, you know how hard it is!
At this moment, the phone on Gong Weidong's desk suddenly rang.
He grabbed the microphone and said respectfully, "Principal Shang, do you have any instructions?"
On the other end of the phone, Principal Shang ordered, "Old Gong, you must immediately arrange a room for Teacher Ning Yao. Do it as soon as possible. Don't delay."
When Gong Weidong heard this, his expression changed instantly, as if he had eaten a bitter melon. "Principal, this... this doesn't seem to be in line with our school's housing allocation regulations."
Principal Shang's voice immediately rose an octave, tinged with anger. "Regulations? Gong Weidong, are you trying to put a finite value on me? What do you mean? Explain yourself clearly. I humbly accept your opinions, and then at the administrative meeting, we'll have another round of criticism and self-criticism!"
Gong Weidong was a little confused by the scolding and quickly waved his hands: "Principal, you misunderstood, that's not what I meant..."
"So what do you mean?" Principal Shang said sternly, "Just tell me. I'm listening. Don't accuse me of not listening to my comrades."
Gong Weidong's face had turned the color of liver, and beads of sweat oozed from his forehead. He swallowed hard and said with difficulty, "Principal, I... I understand. I'll do it right away!"
Principal Shang said, "Gong Weidong, I'm warning you, don't play tricks on me. This matter must be implemented immediately. Just arrange the sunny single room at the top of the red brick building. If anything goes wrong, I will only hold you responsible!" After that, he hung up the phone with a "click".
Gong Weidong put down the phone, turned to look at Ning Yao, beads of sweat appearing on his forehead.
Who is this Teacher Xiao Ning? She even got Principal Shang to call and arrange accommodation for her personally, and it’s the best single room in the teachers’ dormitory.
You know, some of the old teachers in the school who have taught for more than ten years are still waiting in line for housing after getting married. This teacher Xiao Ning must have an extraordinary background.
Thinking of his son's harassment of Ning Yao recently and his own difficulties just now, Gong Weidong felt even more uneasy.
He forced a smile and said, "Teacher Xiaoning, your housing problem has been solved. I will personally take you there to settle the matter."
Ning Yao looked at the change in Gong Weidong's attitude and understood a little bit.
She sighed softly, knowing it was because of her father, but she didn't want it to be like this. However, since things had come to this, she could only say, "Thank you, Vice Principal Gong."
Gong Weidong quickly waved his hand: "Don't be so polite. If you need anything in your work or life in the future, just tell me."
Gong Weidong led Ning Yao to the door of the specially arranged teacher's dormitory. When they opened the door, a simple and practical space came into view.
The layout of one bedroom and one living room is not spacious but unique.
The kitchen and living room are integrated into one, just enough to meet daily needs.
In the bedroom, there is a hard bed and a small desk. The toilet and bathroom are combined. This is the top configuration for a teacher's dormitory.
Ning Yao looked at all this without feeling disappointed. He took the key from Gong Weidong and smiled slightly, "Vice President Gong, this place is great. Thank you."
Then, Ning Yao began to tidy up. She used the rag she brought with her to carefully wipe the furniture and floor, leaving no corner untouched.
After finishing her packing, she returned to Chen Feng's place to move her luggage in. Because of his status, Chen Feng couldn't enter the dormitory building, so he helped her drive her luggage to the nearest school gate.
Ning Yao was busy carrying the luggage back and forth for the entire afternoon.
As night fell, Ning Yao lay alone in bed, feeling particularly uncomfortable for a moment.
When I think about marrying Chen Feng, I’m afraid I’ll have to wait until Chen Feng graduates. I feel like I wish I weren’t a teacher. That’s too long!
