Chapter 886 - 912: Legendary Life (6)
Aiden Jiang’s hand instead tightened, his fingers squeezing, the intention unmistakably clear.
Aurora Cooper leaned her head against his chest and remained silent.
...
Aurora clutched his shirt, unable to help but mutter inwardly.
Every moment was tormenting.
Aiden had been teasing her all the way, maintaining a serious demeanor.
No one knew how long it had been before the car finally stopped, enveloped in silence.
"We’re here," the driver in the front said, still not turning his head, eyes fixed straight ahead.
"Thank you," Aiden’s voice was steady, "Drive the car back and return at nine tomorrow morning."
"Alright."
The driver responded, after which Aiden pushed open the car door and got out.
He embraced Aurora and walked back.
Aurora raised her gaze to take a look, then paused abruptly, feeling strange, "Why aren’t we going home?"
"Aurora." Aiden lowered his eyes to watch her, gently calling her name.
Whenever he called her that way, the tenderness in his tone could melt away any barrier. Aurora found it a bit unbearable, the ambiguity of it all, so she smiled, about to say something to ease the awkward and annoying atmosphere, when she heard him continue, "If time could roll back, I’d hope the person I see waking up is you."
No need to miss out on over twenty years, no need for her to leave her hometown, and their child wouldn’t have to endure many hardships that could have been avoided.
Thinking about it, he felt regretful, how unfortunate it was, almost unbearable.
The woman in his embrace he had met so early on, yet missed during her most radiant years.
Aiden let out a heavy sigh.
Aurora’s bare arm wrapped around his neck, gently saying, "That might not be better."
Aiden glanced at her.
Aurora continued, "You had someone in your heart then, so did I. If we had been together, who knows what would have happened; maybe just a pair of unhappy partners, or we would part ways within days."
"No." Aiden shook his head.
It was Aurora’s turn to be surprised.
His feelings for Daniella Jackson weren’t pure love, but a mix of long-term attachment from adolescence, the sensitive pride of youth, very complex, so much so that when drunk, with unwillingness and frustration, he would shout her name in anger.
But he actually knew, the woman underneath him wasn’t Daniella.
This point, he actually still had his wits about him.
The one he had wished to marry was her, even if faced with a face like Charlotte Chester’s, he was actually somewhat anticipating it.
Least of all—
If he opened his eyes and saw Aurora Cooper.
He would definitely marry her, he felt he would definitely fall in love with her, become enamored with her, even if she wasn’t as gentle and serene as now, nor as charming, coy, and capricious, she could still please him, attract him.
This feeling was extremely strong, as if the woman in his arms was the one destiny had chosen for him.
Regardless of the circumstances, the two of them would inevitably spark feelings for each other.
Now cherishing each other, twenty years ago might have led to misunderstandings and hurt, but certainly also more intense and vivacious love.
He was very certain.
This certainty made him reflect on having missed twenty years in vain, could he not feel regret?
