The Journey to Godhood in Another World

Chapter 12 Moving into the Dormitory

Chapter 12 Moving into the Dormitory

This is a four-person dormitory room. Although the space isn't particularly spacious, its layout is quite reasonable. Four bunk beds with desks underneath are arranged on both sides of the room. The beds are light blue, giving a fresh and tranquil feeling. The wooden desk looks new and sturdy, with a perfectly flat surface. A small, exquisite bookshelf sits on it, ideal for storing books or small trinkets. Next to the desk is a wardrobe with sliding doors; the white doors gleam slightly in the sunlight.

There's a large window in the middle of the room, taking up almost two-thirds of the entire wall. White curtains are half-drawn, and sunlight streams through the glass, casting bright patches of light on the floor. The windowsill is spacious, perfect for displaying greenery or small potted plants, adding a touch of life to the dormitory.

The floor was covered with light gray tiles, looking clean and tidy. A trash can stood in the corner, brand new and without a single stain. A fan hung from the ceiling, its blades reflecting a soft halo of light even when stationary. The walls were white, except for one wall with some faint marks, like the nostalgic imprints left by students who had lived here before.

Luo Li stood at the dormitory door, her eyes scanning the four beds. She considered her options and finally chose the bed furthest from the toilet and closest to the window. She reasoned that being far from the toilet would avoid unpleasant odors, while being near the window would allow her to enjoy plenty of sunlight and fresh air.

Luo Li pulled her suitcase to the bedside, opened it, and began to unpack. First, she took out her clothes one by one, folded them neatly, and placed them aside. Then, she carefully took out her school supplies and arranged them neatly on the small bookshelf on her desk.

After unpacking some of her luggage, Luo Li remembered that the luggage she had sent earlier was still at the reception desk. She needed to retrieve it before making her bed. So, she locked the dormitory door and headed towards the reception desk following the signs for the dormitory building.

The gatehouse was near the entrance to the dormitory area. Luo Li walked briskly along the path. Along the way, she saw many new students and their parents coming and going, each with an expression of anticipation for their new life. When she arrived at the gatehouse, it was a bit noisy; many students were searching for their belongings. Luo Li approached the staff member and politely said, "Hello, I'm Luo Li from room 302. I'm here to collect my luggage." The staff member rummaged through a pile of packages for a while, then pointed to a medium-sized suitcase and said, "This is yours, student." Luo Li thanked the staff member and laboriously lifted the suitcase. The suitcase was quite heavy, and she had to adjust her posture several times before she could hold it securely.

Luo Li carried the suitcase slowly back to her dorm room, beads of sweat appearing on her forehead. Once inside, she placed the suitcase beside her bed, opened it again, took out scissors, and carefully cut the tape that had been used to ship the luggage. Inside were the blankets, sheets, and other personal items she had prepared in advance.

Luo Li first took out the mattress and laid it out. She carefully aligned the four corners of the mattress with the four corners of the bed, then smoothed out any wrinkles with her hands. Next, she took out the bed sheet, shook it open, and let it spread out in the air like a soft cloud. She placed one side of the sheet on one end of the mattress, then slowly pulled the sheet to the other end, making sure it completely covered the mattress, and carefully tucked the edges of the sheet under the mattress.

Then, she picked up the quilt and shook it vigorously to fluff it up. She laid the quilt flat on the bed, then folded one end up, then folded both sides towards the middle, and finally folded the other end over as well, and a neatly folded quilt was ready. She placed the folded quilt at one end of the bed and then took out the cushion she had brought and placed it on top of the quilt.

Looking at the neatly made bed, Luo Li smiled with satisfaction. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and thought to herself, "This means I've settled in for the first time in this new dormitory."

After settling in, her roommates still hadn't arrived; the only sound was the ticking of the clock on the wall. Not wanting to wait idly, Luo Li decided to wander around the campus. She remembered she had a class meeting at 4 PM that afternoon in the lecture hall on the second floor of the second teaching building, a joint meeting for the third and fourth classes of the 2024 composition department, and she was a freshman in the third class. Looking at the time, it wasn't even 10:30 yet, so she decided to check out the school cafeteria first, so she wouldn't be wandering around aimlessly when she ate with her roommates later.

Luo Li quickly tidied herself up, grabbed her phone and campus card, and headed out. She walked down the dormitory corridor, which was filled with a faint smell of disinfectant. Sunlight streamed in from the window at the end of the corridor, creating patches of light on the floor.

Stepping out of the dormitory building, the sunlight outside suddenly became intense. The campus was bustling with new students and their parents. The trees lining the roads were lush and green, their branches swaying gently in the breeze, as if welcoming the new students. Occasionally, one could hear birds chirping merrily in the branches.

Luo Li strolled slowly along the main road of the campus, her eyes darting around curiously. She saw many student clubs setting up booths to recruit new members, their colorful flags and posters fluttering in the wind. Students gathered around the booths, some earnestly inquiring about the clubs, while others excitedly filled out application forms.

She walked along, looking at the street signs, searching for the direction of the cafeteria. After walking for a while, she saw a building ahead with a large sign on top that read "Cafeteria." Luo Li quickened her pace.
