Chapter 236 Marry me, and I'll willingly lift you up.
Lin Xiaoyan smiled gently, "Times have changed, and I do know much more now than before."
Shen Feiwan narrowed her eyes, "Then just now in the car you lied to me and said you hadn't found anything."
“Fool,” Lin Xiaoyan chuckled, “My dad said he’d investigate, I can’t just bypass him.”
He turned around, standing with his back to the light, "But now that he's asking you to discuss it with me, we naturally don't need to beg him anymore."
Shen Feiwan frowned. "Then why did you make me come to see Uncle Lin?"
“Wanwan,” Lin Xiaoyan suddenly approached her, his brows furrowed with complex emotions, “You have a deep misunderstanding of me. If I were to make you come to me directly, it would seem like I was blackmailing you. But it’s different now; you’ve come to me of your own accord.”
“Yes, that’s right.” Shen Feiwan said, emphasizing each word. “This time, I took the initiative to contact you.”
She looked up and met Lin Xiaoyan's gaze. "Then help me find the person who secretly reported me. Only by finding him will I have a breakthrough."
Lin Xiaoyan remained silent, only reaching out to grasp Shen Feiwan's hand.
Shen Feiwan tried to break free, but he grabbed her hand behind her back.
He leaned closer, his warm breath brushing against the stray hairs on her forehead. "Wanwan, this isn't as simple as you think."
He rubbed his thumb against her pulse, saying, "If I help you, I'll risk my life for you."
Shen Feiwan looked up at him, meeting his unfathomable eyes. "So what do you mean now?"
“But your brother is willing to support you.” Lin Xiaoyan gently brushed his nose against her cool forehead, his voice as soft as a sigh. “Marry me, and I will willingly support you.”
Upon hearing this, Shen Feiwan sneered and took a half step back, but her back bumped into the bookshelf, leaving her with nowhere to retreat.
She stared intently at Lin Xiaoyan, her eyes icy cold. "What's the difference between what you're doing and blackmailing me? My dad is your teacher. When you were sick, you went to my maternal grandfather's house to recuperate, and he treated you well. You and my older brother are still friends."
As she spoke, a sneer suddenly escaped her throat, "So this is how you repay kindness?"
"Wanwan." Lin Xiaoyan frowned slightly and moved closer, trapping her completely between the bookshelf and his chest. "Why don't you understand? I want to protect you for the rest of my life."
Shen Feiwan's lips curled into a mocking smile. "So if I don't agree to marry you, you'll just stand by and do nothing, right?"
"Lin Xiaoyan, this is you! You're a scoundrel!" She looked into his eyes. "Your disguise is perfect. You can fool everyone, but you can't fool me."
"Is that so?" Lin Xiaoyan saw naked disgust and disdain in Shen Feiwan's eyes, which made him frown.
He suddenly lowered his head angrily, his lips brushing against her tightly pursed lips, then pulling away just as quickly. "What if I said yes? If you don't marry me, I won't help you."
Shen Feiwan stared at Lin Xiaoyan without saying a word, then raised her other hand and fiercely wiped the spot where his lips had just touched her.
Lin Xiaoyan stared at Shen Feiwan's movements, his chest rising and falling slightly. He suddenly smiled and said, "Wanwan, do you still remember how you used to stand on tiptoe in this spot to steal glimpses of your older brother?"
Shen Feiwan said with disgust, "You're not my brother. Please don't tarnish that word. As for the past, I was blind. Now, are you going to let me go voluntarily, or do I have to resort to violence?"
"Use force?" Lin Xiaoyan looked down at Shen Feiwan, his smile calm and gentle. "What do you mean by 'use force', Wanwan?"
Shen Feiwan chuckled.
Lin Xiaoyan suddenly lowered his voice, "Don't smile at me like that."
He suddenly released his grip on Shen Feiwan, his voice hoarse as if it had been sanded, as if he were very hurt.
Shen Feiwan pushed him away and strode away.
But then Lin Xiaoyan's gentle voice came from behind, "I'll wait for your answer."
He spoke as if the unpleasantness from earlier had never happened.
Shen Feiwan quickly walked out of the Lin family's gate.
As soon as Lin Xiaoyan saw her, her driver quickly caught up with her. "Miss Shen, are you going home? Chief Engineer Lin instructed us to take you home."
Shen Feiwan glanced at the driver, then walked forward without looking back.
The driver hurriedly ran in front of her to block her way, saying, "There are no cars around here on this snowy day, so it's inconvenient for you to get around."
Shen Feiwan then stopped and took out her phone to send a message.
A moment later, a BMW came to a stop in front of the Lin family's courtyard.
Shen Feiwan opened the car door and got into the passenger seat, and Chen Youen immediately started the car.
"How did it go?" Chen You'en asked anxiously, "Did you find out anything useful?"
Shen Feiwan fastened her seatbelt and replied, "A little bit. What I can confirm right now is that I was reported, and I suspect it was a planned and malicious report."
"Does anyone know who that is?"
"We don't know; the whistleblower's identity remains a mystery."
"Now that they've found out it was a report, shouldn't they be able to investigate further? Is it that difficult?"
"There are definitely difficulties."
"From what you're saying, we can dig deeper. When will we finally figure it out? This is so frustrating."
Shen Feiwan narrowed her eyes. "Lin Xiaoyan has made his offer. He said he will only help me if I marry him."
"What?" Chen You'en was speechless. "What does he mean by this? Is he taking advantage of your misfortune? No, he has a good relationship with your parents and your older brother, doesn't he? Even if you weren't in the middle, he should have helped you out. Is the relationship between your two families just for show? Don't tell me you've already agreed to it."
Shen Feiwan swiped open her phone screen, the cold light reflecting in her stubborn eyes. "I can still rely on myself. I won't agree to his proposal until I'm at my wit's end."
"So there's still hope?" Chen You'en loosened his grip on the steering wheel slightly. "Do you have any other ideas?"
"A foolproof method." His fingertips slid rapidly across the screen. "Since I know it's a report, I'll investigate their system bit by bit."
"Should we start from this point?" Chen You'en frowned. "Online matters are easy, but what if they report it offline and provide paper materials? That would be very difficult to investigate."
“There will also be same-city delivery of parcels,” Shen Feiwan said, her eyes glued to her phone screen. “As long as something has happened, it will leave a trace. I have plenty of patience.”
“Yes!” Chen Youen nodded emphatically. “Me too, I’m very patient.”
She turned the steering wheel. "Shall I just drive straight to our secret base?"
"No rush. Let's fill our stomachs first. After all, a tough battle awaits us."
“Okay,” Chen Youen said, a smile unconsciously creeping onto her lips. “You truly are worthy of being called Wanwan. You remain calm and composed in the face of danger. If it were me, I would have been completely devastated by now.”
Shen Feiwan paused for a moment, then looked up at her good friend beside her, "Because I have confidence, and you, Chen Youen, are one of my sources of confidence."
