Chapter 413 What the hell are you?
Chapter 413 What the hell are you?
Lorraine and Terra are confronting the mayor at the tower altar, completely unaware of the new guests from outside Atonement Island.
In fact, besides the blood-red fleet of ships sailing down from the deep ocean currents... there's another strange sight on the sea near the land side of Redemption Island. Calling it a sight is a bit of an exaggeration, because Captain Terra's commander is currently on the run.
Their escape route led them to Atonement Island...
The four of them followed the path of white bones that had suddenly appeared on the sea, heading towards Atonement Island, only about a hundred meters away. But then, the path of white bones on the sea began to become unstable...
The wounded blood elf priest Alice looked back and saw a large group of undead creatures also chasing after her along the path of bones.
Many of them fell into the sea due to overcrowding; some struggled for a few moments before sinking, while others floated on the sea, drifting aimlessly with the current.
The Blood Knight attempted to disrupt the path of bones and cut off his pursuers, but his weapons and attacks met with a brick wall. His one-handed hammer and axe were ineffective; the bones were harder than he had imagined.
Previously, there was no way to destroy this path of bones, but now the bones are dissipating on their own under some unknown force.
Despite their confusion, the four blood elves had no choice but to run forward as fast as they could.
They spotted a watchtower on the island in the distance.
There were no directional lights on above, suggesting that it had been abandoned and desolate for many years, and its bare surface did not seem to be able to accommodate many people.
They had to hurry up and get to the island. The path of bones was dissipating very quickly, and almost all of the undead tide that followed fell into the water... most of them sank to the bottom of the sea!
......
Terra's teammates had no choice but to rush forward blindly. Even getting onto the island was difficult for them, as the front of the island was a large cliff. On the other hand, on the other side of Atonement Island, there was a natural harbor with a relatively flat slope, just enough to dock two large ships.
The ship was now filled with human knights and priests clad in blood-red Crusader armor. The captain ordered the ship to anchor, and the ranks were in perfect formation, ready to land on the island.
The leader instructed the crew: "The rebels have coerced civilians to this island, and we have received reports from the Griffin scouts. There is no trace of the rebels anywhere else... They are likely hiding here, and the Allied forces cannot get close. They asked us to come and rescue them."
“There is a secret prison on the island, which we Kul Tirans built more than a decade ago... This island was our temporary anchorage back then, and now the heretics have captured our compatriots... We must go and rescue them.”
"For the sake of the Holy Light! We must extend a helping hand to the weak!"
As the leader addressed the troops, the Scarlet Crusade soldiers were immediately excited, shouting, "For the Holy Light! For the Holy Light!"
They weren't afraid of alerting the enemy on the island... A team of over a hundred people, armed with weapons, charged directly towards the watchtower at the top of the island. The leader had already said that the entrance to the secret prison was at the top of the tower.
The commotion caused the elven ranger, who was running swiftly across the sea on the other side of the island, to stop. His keen hearing made him look up at the watchtower on the island.
"what happened?"
"It looks like there are people on the island, shouting slogans!"
......
What were they shouting?
"They shouted 'Hey, Holy Light...it's a human...'"
The Blood Knight patted the Ranger's shoulder gravely. "When we get to the island, we'll be careful to stay hidden. Use Eagle Eye to scout ahead... Terra's fate is unknown; we need to send a signal and contact air support beforehand. Otherwise, we might not be able to leave here safely..."
The Blood Elf Ranger Archer nodded.
Turning around, he joined the spellbreaker who was not far behind, helped the injured Alice up, and quickened their pace on the path of bones.
The seemingly endless horde of undead pursuers that had been behind them had vanished without a trace.
But they had no way out.
At this moment, Lorraine was unaware that a large group of unrelated people had appeared above him... Fragments of the Bloodstone Egg were stirring restlessly, and Lorraine felt as if his feet were about to be burned through.
Four fragments were given to Terra for safekeeping, and five more were in his fist. The rest were almost all at his feet, probably about four more.
Seemingly, the attempt to re-fuse the Bloodstone Egg had failed. Mayor Bourne crossed his arms and watched Lorraine's movements with great interest... As he stared, the surviving Twilight Cultists around him also remained still.
"You're not human either...you're an evil undead! A being hated by the world, I know why you're so angry..."
"Whether I'm human or not is none of your business. You old fool, spouting all this underworld stuff. Even if I'm not human, I'll still destroy you in the name of the moon!"
......
Mayor Boone was baffled. "Destroy me in the name of the moon?"
He repeated Lorraine's words, then asked, "You mean Elune? The moon goddess Elune... Are you a night elf? No... you're human, but it seems, not entirely..."
This was naturally a phrase the teacher used to teach his apprentice, Lorraine. Lorraine didn't understand its meaning, but it was something like representing holy light or the moon goddess Elune...
The mayor's eyes changed from red to black, then from black to white, back and forth, in an extremely eerie way, like a scanner.
It seems they want to give Lorraine a CT scan to check his whole body.
Mayor Bourne shook his head, astonished: "You are a strange thing...not human, not undead, not beast, not elemental, not flesh and blood...you possess the power of death, shadow, life, and destruction...you even have the protection of holy light? The mark of the Titans..."
"No, your body is incomplete, even your soul is not whole... You are blaspheming the Creator. It's all an illusion..."
The mayor seemed to have thought of something else. "That's right. In the prophecy my master gave me, a chosen one will descend—neither human nor spirit nor god nor beast, neither alive nor dead, with two souls in one body, plagued by misfortune, endlessly greedy, and with insatiable desires..."
"The spirits of the dead walk in the daytime... chanting songs of hell, descending from the sky, carrying ancient relics..."
"Under the blood moon, it will summon hellhounds, bringing death to the world...spreading fear, and guiding the ancient gods to the sealed land."
The mayor scrutinized Lorraine repeatedly, seemingly still harboring some doubts...
"Your master said you are incomplete, but apart from a problem with your right eye, you are not in any other way?"
"Enough! Go think about it in hell!"
Lorraine wasn't talking to Mayor Bourne; he was secretly looking for an opportunity to deal with the strange blood shield on the man's body. With his reply, the remaining dozen or so werewolves stopped attacking the surrounding Twilight Cultists and instead began biting at nearby iron chains...
With a sudden tug, the unfortunate souls hanging on the wall fell one by one, severing many of the tubes supplying blood to the blood pool...
The mayor was furious...
"You dare to destroy our altar!"
