Chapter 19: Kana
Chapter 19: Kana
Gildarts' return has brought Fairy Tail back into the spotlight.
This man, who is almost forty years old, can really play with children, and he and Natsu seem to get along particularly well.
After being knocked out by Gildarts with a single punch, Natsu became attached to Gildarts, hoping to receive some instruction from him.
Gildarts did not refuse, and after giving Moen his special training every day, he would also take some time to teach Natsu.
The two got along very well, looking like a real father and son.
Moen guessed that Natsu must have felt a fatherly care from Gildarts. Having just lost his "father," Natsu would naturally be very dependent on Gildarts.
Without realizing it, Moen also accepted the fact that Natsu's father was a fire dragon, but he still felt that Natsu should have been picked up by the fire dragon, rather than being the dragon's biological son.
"Brother Moen, today is another lucky day!"
In the Fairy Tail guild hall, Cana blinked her big eyes, holding a tarot card in her hand, looking very serious.
But what she said made Moen, who was sitting opposite her, look strange.
"Kana... I don't mean to doubt your divination skills, but... is it really possible for someone to have perfect luck every single day of the year?"
Moen grinned, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopping himself. It was more than three hundred and sixty-five days.
From the moment Kana started learning divination, every fortune reading he did with her was auspicious; the worst was always a minor auspiciousness!
Is this...right?
"Of course it exists! Aren't you one, Moen?"
Kana spoke righteously, then hurriedly put away the tarot cards.
"But you never seem to do this when you're doing calculations for other people?"
Moen stared at Kana, his expression still strange. At first, he didn't think anything of it, but as time went on, even he, who was slow to notice, sensed that something was wrong with the divination.
"Moen, you... are different from others."
Kana put away the tarot cards and then spoke softly. Faced with Moen's questioning of her divination, she seemed a little anxious, her cheeks flushed, and after saying this, her face turned even redder.
"Please trust my divination skills!"
Before Moen could speak, Kana interrupted, her voice a little loud, and she sounded somewhat angry.
"Okay, okay, of course I trust your skills."
Moen immediately stopped asking questions and could only say that you can't guess what a girl is thinking. Little girls are no exception; their ways of thinking are completely different.
"Kana, are you going to find Gildarts and the others?"
Moen wisely changed the subject, no longer dwelling on the matter of fortune.
He asked this because Cana had already packed her things and looked like she was about to leave, while Gildarts had just taken a few children out, probably to play in the woods outside the city.
"No, I'm going back to my dorm."
Kana shook her head; her cheeks were still rosy, making her look very cute.
"Huh? Going back so early?"
Moen looked somewhat surprised. Why was he going back so early in the morning?
"I still have tasks to complete today, so I'll head straight from the dorm in a bit."
Kana explained that if she had nothing else to do, she would continue to stay in the guild, as she enjoyed the lively atmosphere there.
"What mission? By yourself?"
Moen nodded, then asked curiously.
"No, there's also Levy and Erza. Erza didn't say what the mission was, but she invited the two of us."
Kana shook her head. She didn't know what the mission was, but as long as Erza was there, she was sure that no matter what the mission was, it would be fine.
"Oh, goodbye then, and I wish you success on your mission."
Moen smiled and said goodbye to Kana. He had the same thought: if Erza went with them, there wouldn't be any problem.
Levy and Cana have also mastered magic. Although they are not very good at fighting and still need to hone their skills, with Erza added to the mix, the team's combat strength is not to be underestimated.
They all had great faith in Erza's strength, but if it were only Levy and Cana, then Moen would have to worry.
"So, even though she has a mission, Kana still came to the guild hall early this morning just to have my fortune told?"
Watching Kana jog away from the guild, Moen paused for a moment, then belatedly realized what had happened.
Previously, whenever Moen was in the guild, Kana would come over every morning to check his fortune, so he had gotten used to it.
Despite having other commitments, Kana still made a special trip to have her fortune told today, which made Moen remark that the little fortune teller was quite dedicated.
"Kana should get closer to Gildarts."
As Moen was reflecting on this, a voice suddenly came from under the table.
"..."
Seeing the horned clown hat emerge from under the table, Moen couldn't help but twitch his lips, his face filled with speechlessness.
"Grandpa Makarov, when did you get here?"
Moen rubbed his temples, swallowing his speechless frustration. This old man always managed to do something that left people speechless.
"Ahem, I just arrived."
Makarov coughed lightly; he hadn't heard any whispers he shouldn't have.
"However, it seems that Kana doesn't really like to get close to Gildarts; she always just watches quietly from the sidelines."
Moen rolled his eyes and then spoke about his own feelings, which were actually quite obvious; he had noticed them before.
As the central air force... well, as the children's older brother and leader, Moen pays attention to the emotions of every child.
While everyone excitedly surrounded Gildarts, only Cana stood to the side with a complicated look in her eyes, hesitant to approach.
"Is there some story behind this?"
Moen asked curiously, "If there were any, Grandpa Makarov would definitely know."
Noticing Moen's curious gaze, Makarov looked around like a thief. After finding that no one was paying attention to the two of them, the old man sneakily approached Moen.
"Kildarts was once married."
Makarov lowered his voice and uttered the words that made Moen's eyes widen in surprise.
"ah?!"
Moen couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, but Makarov immediately covered his mouth.
"Shh!"
Makarov looked nervous and gestured to Moen to keep quiet.
"Don't shout, not many people know about this!"
The old man was acting suspiciously, as if this was something shameful.
"No?! Really?!"
Moen was shocked and began to suspect that Grandpa Makarov was joking with him.
Because the subtext of Grandpa Makarov's words is that Cana is actually Uncle Gildarts's daughter, isn't it?!
