Chapter 510: Stay
Chapter 510: Stay
"Pack up, we should leave once the food arrives."
"Yes, Madam, it will be available tomorrow. Shall we begin preparations now?"
With Lin Rusi's permission, the group didn't hesitate and quickly packed their things, soon loading everything they had brought onto the carriage.
Because many things still need to be prepared, the process naturally cannot be small.
The next day.
As Lin Rusi watched several carriages being taken out of the Fan family's granary, a smile curved her lips.
"Thank you, Young Master Fan. If it weren't for your generosity, Jiangnan would probably be littered with corpses."
“How can I compare to you, Madam? If you had known that you wouldn’t have done this business with me, I would never have agreed to it.”
Lin Rusi paused noticeably upon hearing this, then gave a bitter smile.
"After finishing today's work, I'm going back. We need other people's support here, so I need to find some help."
"Is that so? I thought Madam would stay a little longer, after all, people here also like to line their own pockets."
Upon hearing Fan Zhe's words, she visibly frowned and looked in another direction.
The movement was so swift that most people wouldn't notice it, but Fan Zhe happened to be standing opposite him at that moment, and could easily see all the details.
Lin Rusi didn't give him a chance to react and turned to sit in the carriage next to her.
“This is a rule that we can’t keep up with forever, but I will definitely remove it after this.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Lin Rusi got into the carriage and left in the direction of the inn.
No one uttered a sound along the way; they simply gazed silently ahead.
But just as they were passing another city gate, the carriage suddenly turned around and rushed outwards.
The speed kept increasing, and even Lin Rusi, who was sitting inside, had to hold on tightly to the edge to keep her balance.
"What are you doing so fast? Running for your life?!"
The guard sitting next to him ignored the man's roar and instead swung his long whip even harder.
The horse neighed and sped up again, as if it wanted to fling its four hooves into the air.
I thought that with such speed, no one could catch up.
But in the next instant, something fell on the roof, startling Lin Rusi into letting out a scream.
"who!"
"Don't worry, Madam. He's just a petty thief. We can easily drive him away."
But shortly after he said those words, a corpse was thrown into the carriage.
Lin Rusi looked at the corpse, let out a cry, and ran towards the only exit.
The moment his fingers touched the curtain, a long knife blocked his path, forcing him back.
"What do you want to do? Why are you treating my guards like this?"
"Does my intentions truly remain unknown, Madam?"
Lin Rusi clutched her clothes at her chest, clearly wanting to say something, but the long knife was already pressed against her neck.
The warm liquid flowed out quickly, sliding into the clothes and rapidly staining them red.
"I'm not going back, so just give up on that idea."
"What a pity. I thought Madam was a smart person and would choose a better option for herself."
Seeing Fan Zhe's face turn gloomy, Lin Rusi didn't say anything. Instead, she turned her eyes and gripped her hand tightly.
The next instant, she suddenly pulled out her hairpin and stabbed it towards Fan Zhe's neck.
But how could a weak woman like her possibly be a match for a man stronger than herself? She was quickly pinned to the ground.
"Why do you do this, Madam? I only want you to return safely."
"You don't actually want me to go back; you just want to take me hostage."
"As expected of a lady, she is different from others and can see through my intentions with ease."
Fan Zhe wasn't worried about being exposed at all. His expression became increasingly ferocious as he lowered his head and leaned close to Lin Rusi's ear.
He wanted to make a sound to get people to cooperate with him, but suddenly felt a slight pain on his face.
He shoved the person away, then touched his face to make sure he wasn't bleeding before looking at the disheveled Lin Rusi on the ground.
"Very well, since Madam is unwilling to cooperate, don't blame me for being impolite."
The next moment, Fan Zhe raised his hand and slapped Lin Rusi on the head, and she stopped breathing, her eyes wide open as she stared at the ground.
He looked at that face with some reluctance, stroking it again and again with his fingers.
"What a pity. I was originally going to give you a chance. If you obediently followed me, you could live a comfortable life for the rest of your life. Now..."
"How did you kill that person? What are you going to do now?"
Fan Zhe's gentle gaze vanished, replaced by a cold stare at the corpse he had just thrown away. He stood up with disgust.
"This body might still be useful, so you should keep it safe."
"The master wants to see you."
Upon hearing the other person's words, Fan Zhe nodded, casually wiped his clean fingers, and quickly walked out.
In the Jiangnan region.
Lin Rusi glanced at the returning guards, then knowingly looked away and put on the mask that was placed to the side.
"Was the man's body brought back?"
“If they take the body away, it is very likely that it will be discovered if left unattended. Madam, you would better leave as soon as possible.”
Lin Rusi was surprised that Fan Zhe had left the body behind, and she couldn't help but frown and turn to look in another direction.
But not long after, there was a knock on the door.
Knowing that he was going out to give alms, he put on some slightly different clothes so that he looked different from his original appearance, both from the back and from the front, before pushing open the door and leaving.
Just as he had finished distributing most of the items, another guard quietly approached from behind him.
"What's the situation? Are any of Fan Zhe's men in the courtyard?"
"It seems he took everyone away in order to catch up with our carriage; the room only contained some ordinary servants."
"Then we'll wait for a reply, rescue Master Fan, and then find a way to send him to the capital."
The guard hesitated, but since it was all Lin Rusi's arrangement, he couldn't argue too much and could only keep quiet and stand aside.
After the last batch was distributed, Lin Rusi looked at Master Fan, who had been rescued, and the guards watching from the side, and felt a pang of pain again.
"Why haven't they been sent away yet?"
"Madam, it was I who refused to let them send me away. I wanted to stay here and watch him be caught, skinned alive, and have his tendons pulled out!"
Lin Rusi felt that he knew something, so she raised her hand to rub her forehead before looking down at the others.
"If you insist on staying, then Mr. Fan will have to be patient for a few days and live here under a different appearance."
I don't know if it's possible to hide it.
Lin Rusi hesitated for a long time before finally turning her gaze to the busy bodyguards.
"Please, Master Fan, do not make any sudden movements. After all, his eyesight is quite good. If he notices something when he returns, we will both be blamed."
