Chapter 339: The Scene Reenacted
Chapter 339: The Scene Reenacted
After receiving the Seventh Prince's order, the Imperial Guards rushed towards the young eunuch.
Clearly, the young eunuch was no match for the Imperial Guards, and was defeated after a few rounds.
The Imperial Guards quickly captured the young eunuch.
Even at this point, the little eunuch was still being stubborn, saying, "Even if you win against me today, there will be thousands upon thousands of me coming back to cause trouble for Song Miqiu in the future. You'd better be careful."
These words ignited the Seventh Prince's anger. "Lock him in a cell and wait for me to interrogate him personally. I want to see how long you can keep up your stubbornness."
The young eunuch seemed to have expected this and showed no panic whatsoever.
Just as the Imperial Guards were pushing the eunuch forward, they suddenly felt the eunuch sink. When they turned around, they saw that the eunuch had bitten his tongue and committed suicide.
They quickly informed the Seventh Prince, who then went to investigate.
"We're still a step too late."
The young eunuch before him was just like the young eunuch who had died in the imperial kitchen; even the manner of his death was exactly the same.
Song Miqiu also came out from where she had just been hiding. She was so frightened by the sight of the little eunuch who had died in front of her that she trembled all over.
"It's all my fault. Why didn't I think he would commit suicide too when the last one did? I finally got a clue and then it all disappeared. I didn't get anything out of him."
As she spoke, she was so frightened that she squatted down on the ground, curling up like that, which was heartbreaking to see.
The Seventh Prince pulled Song Miqiu over and looked her up and down.
"Are you injured anywhere? Tell me quickly if you are injured anywhere."
Song Miqiu was not yet used to the Seventh Prince's behavior, and since she was still in shock, she didn't know how to respond to him.
"I am fine."
His body was still trembling as he spoke.
The Seventh Prince was still uneasy, having long since forgotten about the little eunuch's death.
"Hurry up and come with me to the Imperial Hospital. Even if there's nothing wrong, you still need to get checked out."
Song Miqiu shook her head, her voice trembling as she spoke, "I don't want to go, I don't want to go back, they all want me dead, I'm not going anywhere."
The Seventh Prince looked at Song Miqiu in front of him and felt disgusted with himself for not protecting her.
But no matter what the Seventh Prince said, Song Miqiu wouldn't listen; she just kept shaking her head.
There was no other way, so the Seventh Prince ordered the Imperial Guards to take the bodies back, and Song Miqiu could handle things on her own.
After the Imperial Guards left, the Seventh Prince immediately picked up Song Miqiu and carried her in his arms.
No matter how much she struggled and played in his arms, the Seventh Prince did not let go.
But Song Miqiu kept repeating, "I don't want to go back."
Helpless, the Seventh Prince angrily shouted at Song Miqiu, "Stop making a scene! Now listen to me and go back to bed. How can you fight them like this?"
This roar finally woke Song Miqiu.
Slowly, Song Miqiu calmed down in the Seventh Prince's arms.
"You're right, I'm going to fight them to the end."
And so the Seventh Prince carried Song Miqiu back to the Imperial Hospital.
Other imperial physicians came and examined Song Miqiu thoroughly, and fortunately, there were no injuries.
After dismissing the other imperial physicians from Song Miqiu's room, the Seventh Prince stood there looking at Song Miqiu without saying a word or showing any expression.
After a long while, he slowly spoke, "I've thought about it carefully. You can't stay in the palace any longer. I'll talk to the Emperor, so you can rest assured. After you take this bowl of medicine, I'll send someone to take you back."
Song Miqiu felt that the Seventh Prince's arrangement was completely unnecessary.
"Seventh Prince, I was just frightened, but I've recovered now. I don't think there's any need to go back; it would be difficult to explain to the Emperor."
Despite Song Miqiu's repeated explanations to the Seventh Prince, the Seventh Prince seemed determined to send Song Miqiu out of the palace no matter what, which was as perplexing as if he had taken the wrong medicine.
Left with no other choice, Song Miqiu finally agreed to leave the palace.
On the way out of the palace, Song Miqiu was still thinking about the strange behavior of the Seventh Prince in the sedan chair.
He guessed in his heart that the Seventh Prince must know something to be behaving so strangely.
Gradually, Song Miqiu calmed down and settled down along the way.
But the calmer things were, the more Song Miqiu felt that the Seventh Prince needed to send someone to investigate.
Before I knew it, I was at my doorstep.
Song Miqiu's family members, having somehow learned that she was coming home, were all standing at the door waiting for her.
As soon as Song Miqiu stepped off the carriage, her nose tingled and she almost burst into tears.
If they had died at the hands of that little eunuch, they wouldn't be here today.
"Grandma, Grandma."
Xiao Bai and Shuang'er skipped and hopped towards Song Miqiu, then jumped into her arms.
"Grandma's dear grandchildren, aren't you happy that Grandma is home?"
"happy."
Now all the troubles were put to the back of Song Miqiu's mind.
Just as Song Miqiu was holding her grandson and granddaughter, she looked up and saw Yu Huailin.
"What's he doing here? Didn't he go to the palace? Or did he come to see me?"
Song Miqiu thought to herself.
Yu Huailin then walked towards her and said, "Come with me for a moment, I have something to tell you."
Tian Yumei immediately stepped forward, took the two children from her mother-in-law's arms, and walked to the side without disturbing their conversation.
Song Miqiu followed Yu Huailin into his study, as she also had a lot to say to him.
Upon arriving at the study, Song Miqiu suddenly remembered the matter concerning the Seventh Prince earlier, and fearing she might forget, she spoke before Huailin could even begin to speak.
"A lot of strange things have happened in the palace these past few days. Could you help me investigate the Seventh Prince?"
To everyone's surprise, Yu Huailin immediately asked a question after hearing Song Miqiu's explanation.
"How did you get in touch with him?"
Her words implied a lot of dissatisfaction with the Seventh Prince.
Song Miqiu didn't understand what had happened between the two of them, so she told Yu Huailin everything that had happened to her in the palace over the past few days.
Yu Huailin then stopped asking further questions.
"I will send someone to investigate the Seventh Prince; you don't need to worry about this matter."
Song Miqiu understood a little; Yu Huailin must be jealous.
Seeing Yu Huailin's absent-mindedness, Song Miqiu couldn't figure it out either, so she had to step forward and ask.
"You're not jealous of me and the Seventh Prince, are you?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Yu Huailin hurriedly explained, "How could that be?"
The hurried tone made the lie seem real all of a sudden.
Seeing this, Song Miqiu didn't dare to ask any further questions and instead looked at Yu Huailin to change the subject.
"By the way, what did you say you wanted to tell me?"
Yu Huailin panicked. He had nothing to say to Song Miqiu, so he deliberately looked away from her, afraid she would notice his blushing face.
