Chapter 184 The Secret of the Pass
Chapter 184 The Secret of the Pass
As they got closer to the ground, tension and excitement filled their eyes.
Lin Shushu stood by the window, looking down at the ground, trying to find the secrets hidden on this planet through some clues. At the same time, she secretly mobilized her spiritual power to protect the people present from the invasion of unknown energy.
After passing through the chaotic atmosphere, the spaceship slowly landed in a relatively open valley. As the hatch opened, an aura carrying an ancient, mysterious, and unknown feel wafted in from outside.
The group stepped out of the spaceship one by one. The ground beneath their feet emitted a faint blue light, like the veins of some mysterious force. The surrounding mountains soared into the clouds, and a light mist filled the valleys, occasionally flashing with eerie light, as if some mysterious creature was watching from the shadows.
"This place is so strange," Lisa whispered to Lin Shushu.
"Don't worry, there are so many of us, we'll be fine," Lin Shushu reassured her.
After walking a few steps, a rustling sound came from the grass. Everyone immediately tensed up and pointed their weapons at the source of the sound.
Suddenly, an unidentified creature resembling a leopard, its scales gleaming with a cold light, leaped out. It opened its blood-red maw and let out a roar that made everyone's eardrums ache.
Kyle instantly conjured a ball of flame in his hand, blocking the creature's advance. Forced to a halt by the flame, the creature did not flee but instead bypassed the flame and attacked Savi, who was standing to the side.
Savi remained calm, rapidly gathering lightning element in his right palm. A thick bolt of lightning shot out from his hand, striking the creature fiercely. The moment the lightning touched the creature, it emitted a dazzling light, and the powerful current stunned it to the ground.
Eli immediately stepped forward and finished off the unknown creature.
After the attack, everyone became more cautious and vigilant, constantly alert to any unusual activity around them.
In fact, Lin Shushu and Mo Ze sensed danger, but they didn't want to show it. If others could handle it, they would let things take their course; if not, there were always others to rely on.
“Searching aimlessly like this isn’t a solution,” Kyle said with some concern during a break.
The others, upon hearing this, knew that it would take a lot of time, but what other options did they have besides searching?
“The people who came before didn’t send back any useful information. I guess the others are just wandering around aimlessly right now!” Rishia guessed.
Lin Shushu and Mo Ze also failed to find any suspected ruins. From the moment they set foot on this planet, Lin Shushu had already used her divine sense to perceive the area, but unfortunately, she found nothing.
She couldn't figure it out. Was her divine sense being blocked by an unknown force, or was there some special magnetic field here that could effectively conceal anything unusual? Or perhaps, the ruins had been deliberately hidden?
“I don’t think we need to worry too much. There are a lot of people here this time. Each team will search one area, and they will explore the entire planet very quickly. I don’t believe we won’t find the real place.” Seeing that everyone looked a little discouraged, Lisa comforted them.
Is this what they mean by digging three feet into the ground? Maybe we'll actually discover some ruins because of this, which is probably why the empire issued the announcement.
"Boss, what's with the pass? Why hasn't anyone asked us for it?" Resia voiced her doubts.
Upon being asked this, Kyle quickly took it out. He hadn't examined it closely when he first received it and had simply tossed it into his spatial storage.
Everyone gathered around and discovered that it was a crystal card emitting a strange light, about the size of two adult hands. Its texture was hard and smooth, and its surface seemed to have faint patterns.
“This looks like a planetary map,” Lina said, pointing to the patterns.
Upon hearing this, Kyle immediately zoomed in and out of the image, examining it repeatedly, and finally confirmed Lina's words.
This discovery excited everyone, and they soon discovered that the strange light on it was actually formed by the convergence of individual points of light.
"Could these dots be the people holding the passes?" Lin Shushu suddenly asked.
No one spoke; everyone was pondering this possibility.
This is easy to prove. Remember the current coordinates, find a place on the map, and when everyone arrives, if the corresponding light point has moved there, then there is no doubt.
“Why don’t we go back to where the spaceship is parked? With the map, we can use the spaceship,” Eli suggested.
They had abandoned the spaceship and walked because they were worried that the spaceship's altitude and speed would affect their search. Now that they had a map, they could choose a good spot and search the surrounding area carefully.
Everyone agreed, and soon they confirmed that the light spot above did indeed belong to their side.
This discovery left everyone with mixed feelings, because it meant that their actions were being monitored by the Empire.
As for losing the pass, it doesn't seem necessary; they didn't come on their own, so there's no need to worry about being discovered. Besides, it's hard to say whether the pass has any other purpose.
Kyle's heart skipped a beat. He examined the crystal card thoroughly and, sure enough, found a groove in the lower right corner of the back, containing a switch. Kyle pressed the switch, and the crystal card's light immediately went out.
Now everyone understands: the Empire wanted to track everyone's progress, so they created this map, but considering everyone's privacy, they also gave everyone the right to choose. Overall, it's quite humane.
At this moment, in every corner of this planet, many people have also discovered the secret of the pass, but no one cares; instead, they are even more excited. If any of them is the first to discover the ruins, they will be making a name for themselves in front of the entire nation—an unparalleled honor.
In fact, besides what everyone thinks, the Empire has another reason for doing this, which is to use surveillance to solve the mystery of the previous people's disappearances.
After all that fuss, it was getting dark. Kyle decided to find a suitable place to camp in the valley where the spaceship was parked, and everyone agreed.
On an unknown planet at night, dangers are unpredictable; this is common sense, and no one would dare to venture into such a perilous place.
Late at night, after everyone had gone to sleep, Lin Shushu and Mo Ze slipped past Kyle and Eli, who were on night watch, and disappeared from the encampment.
This planet is strange in every way, and they want to explore it.
The plants that they saw during the day appeared normal, but at night they seemed to be twisted and deformed as if pulled by some invisible force, and their branches and leaves seemed to have their own consciousness as they danced.
However, both of them knew that there was nothing wrong with the plants themselves; the change was due to a shift in the magnetic field at night.
As for the reason for the change in the magnetic field, they did not know, and now was not the time to study such things.
They searched several unusual places, but after investigation, none of them were the location of the ruins.
Before dawn, they quietly returned to their tents.
