Chapter 241 Awakening!
Chapter 241 Awakening!
"Dr. Tang! Dean Zhou! The patient is awake!" a nurse shouted excitedly, her voice echoing in the quiet hospital corridor.
Ye Shang slowly shook his heavy head, trying to clear his mind.
He felt completely weak, and every movement felt like he had used up all his strength.
As he finally managed to sit up, he immediately heard that exclamation.
Ye Shang struggled to open his eyes, his vision still somewhat blurry.
He blinked, trying to adjust to the light, and began to carefully observe his surroundings.
I saw that my body was covered with various medical testing patches.
The signs in Chinese in the ward clearly told him that he had returned to the Ming Dynasty.
However, Ye Shang's mind was blank, and he couldn't remember how he got back.
He frowned, desperately trying to recall what had happened, but the harder he tried, the more his head ached.
Just then, the door to the ward was suddenly pushed open with a loud bang.
Two middle-aged men in white coats rushed in. Without even greeting Ye Shang, they began to examine his physical condition.
Ye Shang's limbs had not yet recovered their strength, so he was unable to resist.
He could only helplessly be pushed back onto the hospital bed, watching as the two doctors manipulated various medical instruments and tools on his body at will.
Finally, after a long while, one of the doctors—Dean Zhou—slowly put away his stethoscope.
His eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief, and he muttered to himself, "Incredible! Absolutely incredible!"
After reviewing the report from the equipment, Dr. Tang, standing to the side, stared at Ye Shang in shock, her voice trembling with excitement, and said, "That's right! It's amazing! For him to wake up in this condition is nothing short of a miracle in the history of world medicine!"
Ye Shang lay on the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling with hazy eyes, his face filled with confusion and bewilderment.
My mind felt as if it were shrouded in a thick fog, my thoughts in complete chaos.
Finally, he couldn't help but ask, "No... everyone, who are you? Where am I now? And how did I get here?" A series of questions came out of his mouth.
However, the two doctors seemed to completely ignore his question, remaining engrossed in their own conversation and turning a deaf ear to Ye Shang's inquiry.
At this moment, the nurse standing to the side said softly, "This is a military hospital. One of them is Director Zhou, and the other is the attending physician in charge of your treatment."
"As for how you got here, as far as I know, you were driven here by the border troops five days ago."
"However, I'm not entirely clear on the specifics."
After listening to the nurse's explanation, Ye Shang breathed a slight sigh of relief, at least knowing his current situation, but a trace of unease still lingered in his heart—he felt as if he had forgotten some important things.
Immediately, Ye Shang leaned back on the pillow, somewhat dejected, his brows furrowed, lost in thought.
At this moment, Dean Zhou had come to his senses and looked at Ye Shang apologetically.
"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, young comrade! I got too engrossed in talking about the illness just now."
"When you were first brought to our hospital, your condition was extremely critical!"
"Your breathing had already stopped at that point. If it weren't for the faint heartbeat you still had, we probably would have had to send you straight for cremation!"
"However, judging from the current test results, your recovery is going very well. If nothing unexpected happens, you should be able to be discharged from the hospital in the next couple of days!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Dean Zhou gently closed the test report in his hand, then nodded slightly to Dr. Tang beside him, and the two turned and walked together toward the ward door.
Just as he was about to step out of the room, Dean Zhou suddenly stopped, as if he had remembered something important, and turned back to add, "Oh, right, there's something else I need to tell you."
"The border troops who brought you to the hospital for treatment specifically instructed us that if we saw you wake up, we must notify them immediately."
"From what they've said, it seems they want to know some specific details from you. They'll probably arrive here this afternoon."
Ye Shang was lying peacefully on the hospital bed, but when he heard Dean Zhou mention the border troops coming to inquire, he was struck as if by lightning and instantly woke up!
Suddenly, the terrifying scene of struggling for control of his body with that unknown life form flashed through his mind.
His heart suddenly raced, and a fine layer of sweat appeared on his forehead.
Ye Shang didn't have time to think much. He hurriedly reached out and eagerly touched his body, carefully feeling the condition of every inch of his skin and muscles from top to bottom and from front to back.
Only after confirming that there was nothing wrong with his body did he finally relax a little and let out a long sigh of relief.
But then, the thought that the afternoon's visit by the military region troops was likely closely related to that strange and unknown sacrificial ritual gave Ye Shang a headache.
He pondered to himself whether he should truthfully recount everything to the troops.
If he told the truth, would he be secretly taken into custody by the military? The thought sent a chill down Ye Shang's spine.
After all, only he himself knew that at that critical moment, he had risked his life to force that unknown thing back into his body, and who knows what other effects it might have!

The more Ye Shang thought about it, the more horrified he became. He couldn't help but think to himself that his strength had at least recovered somewhat, so why not take this opportunity to escape this place?
Just as he was struggling with his inner conflict, a series of crisp and rhythmic knocks sounded on the door.
Ye Shang stared intently into the distance.
The pretty young nurse from before was now carrying a meal box and walking lightly into the ward.
"You've been unconscious for five whole days, you must be starving by now!"
"This is a task that the dean specifically assigned to me. He said that you should eat some liquid food first, and once it is confirmed that there are no problems with your body, you can eat normal meals."
The nurse smiled and gently handed over the lunchbox.
Ye Shang gratefully accepted the lunchbox, but in his mind, he began to consider another plan—since he couldn't get away for the time being, he might as well try to extract some useful information from the nurse before making any further decisions.
So he forced a smile and said sweetly to the nurse, "Thank you so much, beautiful and charming nurse."
Hearing Ye Shang's praise, the nurse couldn't help but cover her mouth and chuckle. Two shy blushes instantly appeared on her cheeks, as delicate and beautiful as peach blossoms in spring: "Oh my, your little mouth is as sweet as if it's been coated with honey."
Ye Shang forced himself to swallow the tasteless liquid food in his mouth, enduring the discomfort.
Then, feigning curiosity, he looked at the nurse and asked, "Dear beautiful sister, when the army unit sent me here, did they only send me alone? Were there any other people who came with me?"
"Hmm...no! I was there at the time, and they only brought you here in their military vehicle," the nurse said after thinking for a moment.
