Chapter 310 The Immortal Technique Inheritance Begins, Yao Xin Embarks on Her First Perilous Journey

I held Wen Chen's hand tightly, nodded firmly, and then started walking along the winding stone steps toward the temple.

The surrounding scenery gradually became unusual, and the air smelled ancient and mysterious, as if every step was a journey through the long river of time.

Soon we arrived at the temple, an ancient building with upturned eaves and a magnificent golden appearance, with solemn and majestic stone lions in front of the gate.

I looked up at the scripture pavilion, my heart filled with longing for the secret manuals of immortal arts.

The Sutra Repository is located at the back of the temple. Despite the passage of time, it still stands tall and exudes a solemn and sacred aura.

"Welcome everyone to the land of immortal inheritance." A clear voice rang out, and Abbess Huixin slowly walked out of the temple. She was wearing a light blue Taoist robe, and her face carried a hint of dignity and justice.

She glanced at us, her gaze lingering on Ling Feng and Su Yao for a moment before settling on me.

"The inheritance is about to begin. The first challenge is to pass through the fiery maze in front of the Sutra Repository." Master Huixin's words struck my heart like a heavy hammer.

A maze of flames?

My heart skipped a beat, but I felt an overwhelming surge of excitement.

I recall the burning passion and power I felt during the battle; it was a yearning for the future and a challenge to myself.

"Disciple understands." I took a deep breath and looked up at the fiery maze.

The maze was made up of raging flames, which resembled giant, menacing serpents that firmly sealed off the entrance.

As soon as I took a step, I immediately felt a scorching heat, as if countless needles were pricking my skin, causing unbearable pain.

Sweat instantly slid down my forehead. I tried to regulate my breathing, and a fire seemed to burn in my heart, dispelling my fear.

Ling Feng was already walking ahead with ease, his steps light and confident, as if the flames were nothing more than insignificant obstacles to him.

Su Yao sneered from the side, "Oh, Xiao Yao, you also want to participate in the inheritance? Don't get burned by these flames, or no one will save you."

I gritted my teeth, a surge of resentment and anxiety welling up inside me.

I know that this is not only a test for me, but also a test of my will and determination.

I cannot lose, nor can I give up.

Just then, Wen Chen's voice rang in my ears: "Xiao Yao, you can definitely do it, believe in yourself." I turned to look at him, and he nodded, before turning my gaze back forward.

Taking a deep breath, I took another step and resolutely entered the fiery maze.

Flames raged all around me, and the intense heat almost engulfed me, but my heart was filled with an indomitable will.

Just then, a terrifying growl came from the depths of the maze, as if some enormous creature was slowly approaching.

A chill ran through me. I clenched my fists and continued walking forward, with only one thought in my mind: no matter what lies ahead, I must get through it.

A wave of heat swept over me, and I could barely breathe. Every breath I took felt like a tongue of fire licking my throat.

Sweat blurred my vision, and everything in front of me became distorted. The fiery maze seemed to have turned into a giant furnace, about to roast me alive.

Suddenly, a deafening roar came from the depths of the maze, and the ground shook violently.

I turned around in horror and saw a giant made of flames walking towards me with heavy steps. Its body was engulfed in raging flames, and its eyes were flashing with a fierce light.

I wanted to hide, but it was too late.

The fire giant swung its enormous fist and slammed it down on me.

I felt a tremendous force strike me, and then I lost consciousness and fell heavily to the ground.

Intense pain shot through my body. I struggled to stand up, but found myself completely powerless.

The flames in the maze were still burning fiercely, the intense heat scorching my skin. I felt like a lamb on a grill, ready to be roasted at any moment.

Su Yao's figure flashed past me. She didn't stop or even glance at me, and walked straight into the depths of the maze.

As I watched her retreating figure, my heart was filled with anger and helplessness.

Am I destined to fail like this?

Am I destined to be trapped in this fiery maze, never to escape?

A feeling of despair gradually spread, like an invisible net that tightly wrapped me up.

The fire giant's attacks grew increasingly fierce, and the flames in the maze intensified. I felt my magic power rapidly dwindling, and if this continued, I fear I truly wouldn't be able to hold on any longer.

Elder Xuanfeng stood outside the maze, looking at me expressionlessly, showing no intention of offering any help.

His indifference made me feel even more helpless; a tense and oppressive atmosphere permeated the entire maze, almost suffocating me.

"Give up..." A voice echoed in my mind, so clear yet so distant.

"You no longer have a chance..."

I……

Wen Chen's voice flowed through my mind like a clear spring: "Xiao Yao, don't give up, you can do it!" His voice was gentle yet firm, carrying a magical power that dispelled the despair and fear in my heart.

A warm feeling welled up in my heart, and I felt as if I had been reborn, full of strength.

He cared about me so much, and believed in me so much.

Even though we are thousands of miles apart, I can feel his warm presence. It's an indescribable feeling, sweet and reassuring.

I took a deep breath, wiped the sweat and tears from my face, and my gaze became firm again.

I gripped my sword tightly, no longer dodging, but instead charged towards the fire giant.

People around me gasped in surprise. They didn't understand why I was continuing, or why I didn't choose to give up.

Ling Feng frowned slightly, while Su Yao revealed a mocking smile.

But I don't care about any of that anymore.

My eyes were fixed on that enormous fire giant; it was my only target and my only challenge.

I rushed up to the fire giant, its massive body casting a shadow that enveloped me.

I looked up at it, and flames danced in its eyes as if they wanted to devour me.

I felt a wave of suffocation as the heat hit me, almost melting me.

But I did not back down. I kept a close eye on its every move, searching for its weaknesses.

Suddenly, I noticed a spot on its feet where the flames seemed to be thinner.

Could this be its weakness?

A glimmer of hope ignited in my heart, along with an irrepressible excitement.

I took a deep breath, mobilized all my magical power, and prepared to launch the final attack.

The air around me seemed to freeze, and everything became quiet, with only the sound of my heartbeat echoing in my ears.

"Now!" I shouted in my heart, and swung my sword out suddenly...

The sword light flashed like a rainbow, carrying all my strength and hope, and stabbed fiercely at the foot of the fire giant.

In that instant, time seemed to stand still. I could feel the resistance as the sword tip touched the skin of the fire giant, I could hear the crackling of the flames, and I could smell the acrid smell in the air.

Then, a deafening explosion rang out, and the powerful shockwave knocked me back several steps.

I squinted and, through the billowing smoke, saw the fire giant roar in agony. Its body began to tremble violently, then it collapsed with a crash, turning into sparks that vanished into the air.

I made it!

A surge of immense joy welled up inside me, and I almost cheered out loud.

Ignoring the pain in my body, I quickly made my way through the remaining fiery maze.

The heatwave still scorched my skin, but I could no longer feel the pain; I only felt the joy of victory.

I overtook Su Yao, and she looked at me in shock. I smiled at her, a smile that carried a hint of smugness and provocation.

I was enveloped in the glow of glory, and I felt like a triumphant hero returning home.

Emerging from the fiery maze, Abbess Huixin nodded approvingly: "Not bad, you've passed the first test." I took a deep breath, calmed my excited emotions, and looked up ahead.

However, my smile froze instantly.

The second test suddenly appeared before me.

It was a huge ice cave, with a biting cold air permeating the entrance. The inside was pitch black and bottomless, like an abyss that swallowed everything.

I could even hear faint, strange sounds coming from deep within the cave, like the whispers of some creature, or the sound of ice cracking.

An ominous premonition welled up inside me, and I couldn't help but shiver.

“This…” I looked at Master Huixin, but she just looked at me calmly, without any hint in her eyes.

"It seems the real test has only just begun," a voice came from behind me.

I turned around and saw Wen Chen.

He walked up to me, took my hand, and his hand was warm and strong, giving me immense courage.

"Whatever lies ahead, we will face it together."

I held his hand tightly and nodded.

"Let's go." I strode towards the ice cave, fraught with unknown dangers...

"Wait." Wen Chen suddenly grabbed me.

A barely perceptible hint of worry flashed in his eyes. "Something's not right..."
