Chapter 318 The Sniper!
Chapter 318 The Sniper!
Zhang Haiyang said:
"Yuemin, with this heavy rain, I reckon the militiamen in Yuehou Village have already gone to bed. Let's sneak in and take them all out."
"Don't make any rash moves. There are only about twenty of us. Our mission is to scout the enemy's situation and report firsthand information to the command center in a timely manner. We should try not to fire if possible."
After saying this, he gestured for the other squad members lying in ambush to advance. The squad moved into the village in a fan-shaped formation. Initially, nothing unusual happened, and upon entering the village, they found that the rural houses were similar to those in the border cities of Guangxi and Yunnan, mostly low wooden and mud houses. The village was quite large. The squad advanced along a narrow, winding alley when suddenly, the sound of barking dogs came from deep within the alley ahead.
The team members immediately hid on both sides of the alley and stopped moving forward. After a minute or two, the barking stopped. Zhong Yuemin signaled them to continue forward and sneak over. The three-man group from Mantun on the right side of the alley went first. As soon as one of the soldiers stood up and took a step, the barking started again.
Whether it was from constantly drinking the water from the immortal spring or from years of martial arts practice, perhaps his physical functions had evolved, Zhong Yuemin instinctively sensed the approaching danger and whispered a warning.
"careful!"
He rushed forward swiftly and tackled the soldier in front of him to the ground.
Almost simultaneously, a gunshot rang out from deep within the alley, "Thud!"
The soldier was shot, and both men fell to the ground.
"Leap People!"
"Battalion Commander Zhong!"
"Everyone stay crouched and don't move!" Zhong Yuemin lay on the ground. "I'm fine. There's a sniper on the other side. Don't show yourselves."
The soldier beside him looked pained; he had been shot in the left shoulder, and his clothes were soaked with bright red blood. Luckily, he had tackled the man to the ground; otherwise, the bullet would have hit his heart in a split second, and he would probably be dead.
"Battalion Commander, I..."
"Don't speak," Zhong Yuemin said, taking down his water bottle and unscrewing the cap.
"They drank them all!"
"Commander, I...I'm not thirsty!"
"Stop talking nonsense, drink it!"
The soldier did as he was told.
He then took out hemostatic herbs from his bag. These were grown in his spatial storage and irrigated by a magical spring; they were quite effective at stopping bleeding. Since he was participating in this counterattack, he had prepared quite a few in advance, and he knew he would definitely need them.
"Full stock!"
Man Tun crawled forward from behind, "Yuemin, is he alright?"
"I can't die!"
Give him the herbs you have, chew them up, and apply them to the gunshot wound to stop the bleeding.
"Okay!" Man Tun did as instructed.
Zhong Yuemin then addressed the other members:
"Everyone stay down and don't move. Listen to my command... Ning Wei!"
Ning Wei gestured upwards with his finger, and immediately obeyed. He slung his Type 56 assault rifle diagonally across his chest, stood up sideways, lightly touched the wooden wall with his left toes, leaped upwards, grabbed the upper beam with one hand, and with a powerful push, climbed onto the beam. Then, he hooked his feet upside down onto the beam, his body swinging like a pendulum, and his hands gripped the roof tiles. His entire body, nimble as a monkey, was on the roof. This entire sequence of movements took only a few breaths, clean, crisp, and fluid; only someone with exceptional physical abilities could accomplish such a feat.
On the other side, Zhong Yuemin also climbed onto the tiled roof. The two of them climbed over the ridge of the roof and reached the other side. Then they quickly made their way towards the direction from which the gunshots were coming from the depths of the alley ahead. These low wooden houses were all connected. Three or four minutes later, the barking of dogs grew closer and closer. It came from a one- or two-story wooden building in front, which was right in the middle. It was slightly higher than the wooden houses on the left and right sides of the alley. A sniper rifle was set up on the second floor. With a commanding view and a wide field of vision, it really had the air of one man holding the pass against ten thousand men.
