Chapter 193 Reencounter with Dudu Bone
Chapter 193 Reencounter with Dudu Bone
After meeting mistletoe, Chenxi went to see Xingti and Sufubi respectively.
Xingti was alright; he secured funding for her to build Apple 2, and that alone made her almost call Chenxi her godfather.
However... Chenxi struggled for a long time about what kind of gift would be appropriate for Su Fubi, a rich young man.
But when Chenxi remembered that Su Fubi had hardly ever left home because of the bullying she suffered in her childhood, a potentially suitable gift slowly took shape in his mind.
When the novel "The Adventures of Typhon," based on Typhon and referencing various adventure stories Chenxi had read in his previous life, was handed to Sufby, the girl's bright eyes already told Chenxi that he had chosen the right gift.
However, just after Chenxi had given away all the gifts and was wandering aimlessly through the foundation, he unexpectedly encountered someone...
The afternoons at the foundation always carry a smell of old paper mixed with gunpowder smoke. Sunlight shines through the stained glass, casting mottled patches of color on the marble floor, much like the childhood memories of Dudugu, torn apart by war and barely pieced back together.
She had just finished another round of physical training. Sweat trickled down her forehead and slid down her jawline, dripping onto her dark training clothes and leaving a small wet patch.
The wood-elemental energy flowed gently through her body, nourishing her legs—they were intact, with well-proportioned muscles, and even stronger than the legs she had when she was a dancer in her youth.
But Dudu Gu would still subconsciously raise his hand, wanting to touch the outside of his thigh, where the prosthesis used to connect with his skin and flesh, and where he had always felt the coldness of metal and the pain of wear and tear.
This action has become an ingrained habit, just like how she can't get rid of the sharp thorns all over her body even after she has broken free from the shackles of her disability.
Take a deep breath, stand on tiptoe, stand on one leg, and raise both hands above your head.
Thanks to that annoying man, I can now do this kind of move that is quite difficult to do when I'm on one leg.
But the next second, she felt a surge of self-loathing for involuntarily recalling that man's image.
It's that man...
"Dukduk bone?"
A familiar voice suddenly rang out, and Dudu Gu trembled all over, a rare panic that almost made her lose her balance. But her stubbornness held her up, and she managed to steady herself despite the panic.
I absolutely do not want to show any weakness in front of that man again!
Having forced himself to complete the movement and regain his standing posture, Dudu Gu resembled a graceful black swan, breathing slightly heavily.
However, in contrast to that captivating aura, there was the staff that had already appeared in his hand, and the cold aura of "keep away, strangers, and acquaintances even more so" expressed by his tightly furrowed brows.
"Ha...ha...If you wanted to see me make a fool of myself, then you've achieved your goal."
"There is only a cold, irritable, mean, and despicable piece of rotten wood here."
"So what made you move here? Was it because you're not getting the attention you deserve from your girlfriend, and you're looking for a sense of superiority here?"
Her words came out like a machine gun, each one sharp as a knife, capable of deterring anyone who tried to approach. But the truth was…
When Chenxi first heard this, she was indeed quite surprised, but when she thought of the stubborn personality of the black swan in front of her, she couldn't help but smile slightly.
"Hmm... I think you might have some misunderstanding. Your presence here today is purely by chance."
"I just happened to be passing by after saying goodbye to my friends. It was purely by chance, nothing more. Dudu, you... you don't need to be so dramatic."
Chenxi could barely suppress the smile on her lips, but Dudu Gu opposite her was on the verge of exploding with emotion.
The thought of countless days and nights in the past, when she would stroke her newly healed legs and think of this man, made her feel irritated.
She had been trying to figure out what this man was thinking almost every day, but not only did he leave without saying goodbye, he even claimed that their meeting was an accident...
"With night and shadow!"
The staff, brimming with power, suddenly pointed at Chen Xi, and Dudugu almost roared as he unleashed his most powerful mystical spell.
She wasn't usually such an impulsive person, but seeing Chenxi's seemingly unchanging, nonchalant demeanor, she couldn't help but feel a surge of anger—especially compared to the earnestness and tenderness in his eyes when he looked at the silver-haired girl beside him that day at sunset.
As hatred surged within her, she activated her staff. But the instant she exerted force, a sharp pain shot through her ankle. Before she could react, her legs buckled, and she fell forward uncontrollably.
It wasn't just the body that was out of control, but also the mysterious spell that had already been cast. It deviated from its original trajectory, and a portion of its power reversed direction, rushing towards Dudugu itself!
"careful!"
Chen Xi's smile vanished instantly, and her expression suddenly turned sharp.
He took a step forward and instantly appeared beside Dudu Gu. He steadily supported her waist with one hand, pulling most of her body into his arms and distributing the weight from her feet.
As for the force that was redirected towards Dudu Bone, Chenxi didn't make any extra movements. He simply held her tightly in his arms and used his own back to block the attack for her.
"Are you OK?!"
A faint explosion came through the man's body, followed by the sizzling sound of his clothes and muscles being corroded by the poison. The sound was like needles, ripping Dudu's heart.
"You're all bark and no bite, and you still won't admit it."
Chenxi gasped for breath, trying her best to control her expression so as not to be affected by the corrosion damage on her back, and joked with Dudugu as calmly as possible.
"This little injury is nothing."
"What kind of time is this to say such things! Let me see your back!"
Dudugu struggled to look, his voice carrying a hint of panic that he himself was unaware of.
"I am fine."
Chenxi suddenly reached out and gently cupped her cheeks, turning her head towards him. His gaze was serious and firm. "Right now, the most important thing is you, the injury on your foot, do you hear me?"
Knowing she must be worried, Chenxi simply turned around and showed her her back, which had been completely restored—only the burned clothes could not be repaired, and the remaining traces of the poison curse still occasionally landed on her skin, bringing a tingling, stinging pain.
Only after confirming that Chenxi was truly unharmed did the sharp pain in his ankle suddenly strike.
The ankle is swollen high. Although it is impossible to tell whether it is fractured with the naked eye, judging from the degree of swelling, the foot with the broken bone will not be able to put weight on it for at least a week.
"hiss……"
Dudugu gasped, a fine layer of cold sweat beading on his forehead.
Seeing this, Chen Xi's eyes flashed with a hint of helplessness, but his tone carried a touch of teasing:
"Hmph~ It seems our Miss Dudu Gu has run into a little trouble."
--------
I wanted to write the stories between Chenxi and the girls as realistically as possible, and I initially wrote about Su Fubi and Xingti. I planned to write about the interactions between Chenxi and the girls in more detail.
However, there were too few scenes depicting the interactions between the characters in the previous text, which made me unsure of what kind of emotion to use to describe their behavior.
I wrote and deleted, deleted and wrote, which took several days.
In the end, we compromised and chose the "Dudu Bone" as the best option, and we hope that our readers will enjoy it!
