Chapter 1076 The Philippines' Plans
Chapter 1076 The Philippines' Plans
After finishing breakfast, Li Mo'er and Zhao Yunting began discussing the island they would be cleaning up that day.
They then decided to first clear out islands such as Zhongye Island. Meanwhile, the warships that had previously planned to ground themselves reappeared near the Spratly Islands.
Last time they failed to aground, and they were all scolded when they returned. As for the fact that everything on the ship was lost, the higher-ups didn't believe it at all. They suspected that these dozen or so men didn't want to aground and were just keeping watch in that godforsaken place.
So they secretly sold off the expensive imported solar panels and other items, and then fabricated an excuse that they had mysteriously disappeared. This allowed them to not only escape the tedious task of guarding the islands and reefs, but also pocket the money from the sale—a win-win situation.
So, as punishment, the superior officers decided to send them to the beach again to continue the mission. They also assigned an officer to supervise them. Once they successfully landed, the supervising officer could take a speedboat back to report.
However, these dozen or so people argued vehemently, refusing to settle on Ren'ai Reef any longer, claiming that the island was haunted, and strongly demanded to change to another island.
After careful study and discussion, they finally decided to set up camp on Beizi Island!
Beizi Island is located in the northwest corner of Liletan, and you have to pass through Liletan to get there.
This time they brought plenty of supplies, especially matches, which were hidden all over the warship. They were fed up with having smoke but no fire!
When their warships passed by Reed Bank, they discovered something terrible: several small islands around Reed Bank had disappeared, and most importantly, Reed Bank itself had changed drastically.
This discovery put them on high alert, and everyone shuddered as they looked at the Liletan Beach, which was clearly twice its original size.
They passed through here a couple of days ago, and at that time, Liletan was the same as before, with no difference.
The supervising officer asked, "When did this island become like this? Was it built by China? How could you not report such a major incident? Are you planning to go to a military court?"
The soldiers on the ship immediately denied it: "Sir, this island wasn't like this when we came last time. We don't know why it's like this today. Could it be that China built it these past two days!"
The officer kicked the soldier in anger: "Bullshit! Do you believe such a huge project can be completed in just two days? China isn't some kind of infrastructure powerhouse; how could we possibly transform this island like this in just two days? You can wait to go back and face your punishment. Lower the speedboat; I need to go back and report!"
He looked at the soldiers and said, "You continue with the original plan and land on Beizi Island. If you dare to try anything again and sell all the supplies, you'll all go back to jail!"
After saying that, he boarded the speedboat and went back to report this major discovery.
At this moment, Li Mo'er and Zhao Yunting were on the north shore of Beizi Island, where Li Mo'er discovered a small dock.
Beizi Reef, also known as Beizi Island, is the northernmost island in the Spratly Islands. The island is oblong, measuring 800 meters long and over 200 meters wide. The average elevation is 3.2 meters, with the highest point reaching 12.5 meters. With an area of 14 square kilometers, it is the fifth largest island in the Spratly Islands.
The pier showed obvious signs of artificial repairs. Zhao Yunting said, "It was probably done by the fishermen. Let's go to the island and take a look."
Li Mo'er nodded and went ashore with Zhao Yunting. The north shore of the island was relatively flat.
Li Mo'er and the others noticed a simple hut on the island. Zhao Yunting said, "It must have been built by fishermen who came here to rest after fishing."
Just as Li Mo'er was about to speak, cheers rang out in her ears. Judging from the sound, there were about a dozen people, but Li Mo'er and Zhao Yunting couldn't understand what they were saying.
There's a small hill not far ahead, about ten meters high. It's the highest point on the island.
The two arrived at the small hill and looked in the direction from which the sound came, and saw the yellow and blue dilapidated warship anchored on the south shore of Beizi Island.
Li Mo'er chuckled: "You dare to come again? Looks like you didn't suffer much last time?"
