Chapter 239 - 239: Increasing the weakest attribute
"We moved the tamers to Hive Rich, so they wouldn't conflict with the already tamed ones," Workharder said. "So far, we lured a small group around—they don't trust us, but they will soon, I'm sure! I didn't want to tell you, Father, until we got something more certain."
"I see… No sight of their eggs, either?"
"No," Bloodhero said. "Our dragons rarely even sleep in their nests. The Re
Since we discovered more and more places, we gave them more and more names. The Bee Empire now was split into three rough zones: Land Supremo (the central area), Rich Plains (a stretch of land and a railroad leading toward Hive Rich), and Giants' Reach (the latest zone of our expansion, going toward the human village).
For the next while, we talked about a growing list of projects the Bee Empire will fulfill in the next month.
Everybody was going to have a task, but Worriesgone had the most tasks right now.
First, she had to train more Artists. Until now, she only trained bees who couldn't take other jobs because of various traumas. Since our medicine was not a modern-day thing, and since most bees preferred to die gloriously in battle instead of returning home with half their hands missing, we still had only about 3 thousand Artist Bees total.
My girls in sub-hives barely even heard what art *was*!
This had to change, so I added an 'Artist' option to job profiling.
Besides that, I gave Worriesgone a few ideas about forms of entertainment. And finally…
"I want everybody in the Empire to have access to the latest news through official sources, not some gossip. And the same source can spread various inspiring tales you and the other Artists can come up with, Worriesgone."
"Oh, you are so smart again, Father!" Things-Things praised. "Right-right, everybody everywhere must know about everything related to you! Bees in sub-hives only have what they are taught in school—they don't know how truly amazing you are. Isn't that right?"
"They like to make things up," Bloodhero said, narrowing her eyes. "I must admit… in reality, Father isn't the size of a mountain. And he doesn't breathe fire. Yet."
"Yet," Ambrosia nodded, giving me a sly smile. "Although, I hope Necty stays my size… Either way, a way to spread news faster will help us spread orders over the Empire faster as well."
"But what are 'official sources'?" Researchina asked, tapping her chin. "Like a news-carrier bee, perhaps?"
I nodded.
"Yes—a herald. These heralds can be Beehounds from new generations, that will be taught to fly among our settlements at their incredible tier 5 speed and tell news, orders and just various stories. With their absolute memory they will be able to remember everything. And while they travel through sub-hives, they will gather reports about life there and bring them back to Hive Supremo."
〔Heralds〕
Brainpower requirement: 25000
Logistics: +100 per 1 affected settlement.
Espionage: +20 per 1 affected settlement.
Culture: +100 per 1 affected settlement.

Ah, the times of easy technology unlocks. Implementing it was harder, though.
"But these heralds will interfere with the flow of work with their tales!" Workharder protested. "They must be fitted into the overall schedule of every sub-hive."
"And they can't just tell their things to everyone in the hive *individually*—this is just impractical," Researchina added. "Even if we gather all the bees together… A single voice doesn't carry far. Maybe there's some technological way to make it stronger?"
"Just have them write their news out instead of talking," Things-Things said.
"But this will take a while, too!"
"Girls, don't shout at each other. We will combine approaches. The heralds will write the most important things out, but they will also talk in special places—let's call them 'amphitheaters'. When there are no heralds, local bees can gather there to rest and tell their own stories!"
The plan was made quickly enough. Although there were a lot of small kinks to work out, from the amount of heralds necessary to their flight routes, myself and my Council were all smart and experienced enough to do these things with few problems.
In a month, the heralds will fly out and spread the news about all the latest achievements of the Bee Empire, that even the last common worker knew about them and was proud.
And in a month, there were going to be a lot of achievements. The next development level could come in a blink of an eye!
