Chapter 338 - 338: The first real step on the path of the conqest!
'And did Farini agree?'
It only took a few minutes for me to get an answer—a direct, high-priority communication line was currently open between me and Whisper, and the messages were short.
'Yes, Father. Gladly! Please, wait for the rest of the report on the state of the capital city.'
I relaxed in my chair, sipped on my tea, and did just that. I had dozens of other reports to read, so there was plenty to do.
The reports were mostly compiled from messages of Agents located closer to Hive Supremo—in the human province originally belonging to Farini, and the one with the highest population of bees.
The integration process was doing well there.
The preachers appointed by Farini were spreading the new myths about bees and "divine guardians" for a while now, and people were eager to believe whatever gave them hope for a better future.
First, this hope came in the form of food Farini conquered from neighboring lords. Then in the form of new healers he invited and the impromptu hospitals he organized in many of the existing temples.
People were especially careful to not crush any bees out there, and to not attack dragons wearing harnesses.
Our borders were expanding rapidly toward this area, and construction of railroads toward them was under progress, made much faster because humans were helping us!
Not everybody, but some worshipers were doing it… for nothing. They didn't even need payment, just to know that they were doing a "holy work".
Even my own girls found this eagerness distrustful, but Tamsha proved helpful—he organized the volunteers and gave architecture hints, although at first he complained I was sending him away from the heart of the Empire for this task.
Humans and bees already started to live alongside each other in several other areas, where the first hives were already built, too—near the temples. In time, the bees will be able to take over the administrative tasks and such, while the humans will be our labor force.
At least, this was my vision. My plan!
The more reliant on our wisdom the humans became, the better.
