Chapter 214: Died in the Sea of Evil Spirits?
Chapter 214: Died in the Sea of Evil Spirits?
Despite his reluctance, the bearded man obediently pulled out a prop.
"Growth potion".
“After drinking it, you will turn into a 10-meter-tall giant…” the bearded man said, looking at the others, “Why are you looking at me like that? I don’t have any other props.”
"Take it or leave it."
Yan Xun put the potion away. "And you?" he asked, looking at the remaining player.
The man didn't expect the bearded man to surrender so quickly, but he had no items, so he could only give out 2000 points to the other side to share.
Once the transaction was complete, Yan Xun immediately handed over the portrait painting for the captain's cabin.
The bearded man immediately realized he had missed crucial information and was quite annoyed, as was his henchman.
Seeing that the other side was still waiting for his information, he cleared his throat and said, "I didn't sleep at all last night, so I heard some noises."
He looked at Yan Xun and the others.
“I heard the crew member in my room come down from the upper bunk and leave the cabin. A little while later, I heard the door next door open. I heard them pulling at something, and then I heard people talking in the hallway.”
"Ask if the feed is ready."
“I didn’t think much of it at the time… After all, you know that the evil spirits on the Sea of Evil Spirits can impersonate various voices to make people open their eyes.”
"But it wasn't until the next day, after the person next door was gone, that I realized the problem: maybe it wasn't an evil spirit that was haunting me last night."
The bearded man was sweating profusely as he spoke.
"Perhaps from the very beginning, we were the feed."
After the bearded man finished speaking, he saw that Yan Xun opposite him showed no surprise whatsoever. "You're not surprised?!"
"That was quite unexpected," Yan Xun reassured him.
The bearded man's account was largely correct to his guess. Because of the legend of the evil spirit, players would not open their eyes to check even if they heard some noises at night. Even if the crew members really disappeared the next day, they would only assume it was a trick by the evil spirit.
“But I don’t understand…” the bearded man said, clenching his fist, “wasn’t that person dead in the cabin?”
He was referring to the player who died the night before last.
The other person's eyes widened, and their expression was terrified, as if they had witnessed something unbelievable.
“Perhaps he did see something truly terrifying,” Yan Xun said.
While these players were chatting, the people at the next table were still drinking and fooling around, but their eyes never left them, as if they were worried that these excellent feeds would slip away quietly.
Corren came to the table again.
"Does anyone want to clean the captain's cabin?"
Upon hearing this, the bearded man immediately raised his hand, a stark contrast to his attitude the previous night.
His henchman hesitated for a moment, but perhaps having heard a clue about the portrait in the captain's cabin, he also raised his hand.
Next up is Gu Jia.
Koren smiled as he looked at the players with such contrasting attitudes. He pointed at Gu Jia and said, "You."
Then he pointed at Gawain, "You."
"Go clean the captain's cabin."
The bearded man and his henchman were surprised by this outcome. Just as they were about to ask what was going on, they saw Corinne's green eyes glance over.
"Didn't you guys not want to clean the captain's cabin yesterday?"
He said to them, "That's perfect, you don't have to go today."
He did it on purpose, Yan Xun thought. If the bearded man and his henchman still seemed unwilling to go today, Corin would probably call them out. But their attitude changed drastically today, so Corin changed his attitude instead.
“Alright, gentlemen,” Corren clapped his hands. “You may proceed to the captain’s cabin.”
He then looked at the two bearded men and said, "Go and clean the refining furnace."
"We're about to encounter a whale."
"As for you..." He looked at Yan Xun and the other two, "your suspicion has not been cleared yet, so wherever you go, you must be accompanied by a crew member."
Yan Xun was not surprised by Ke Lun's arrangement.
The bearded man was somewhat unwilling to accept this arrangement, but he also knew that now was not a good time to rebel against Coron. He planned to find another opportunity to see if he could go to the captain's cabin.
After arranging everything, Corren returned to his original seat.
"Did you sleep well last night?" Gu Jia asked.
"So-so." Yan Xun poked at the boiled beans in his plate with his fork. "I think I heard the crew walking around on the deck."
"I also had a nightmare."
"What nightmare?"
“The sun god amulet at the bow of the ship is broken.” Yan Xun put down his fork. “It was a nightmare. I dreamt that I came to the bow of the ship, turned on the lights… and then the amulet at the bow turned into pieces.”
"Fortunately, the dream was short-lived. I think I even saw a red dolphin by the side of the boat, just one."
"You dreamt you were on the deck?" Gu Jia asked.
Yan Xun nodded. "I dreamt that I left the storeroom and came to the deck. I think I could even hear them throwing that person down."
"I never thought my nightmare would come true."
Gu Jia instantly understood the information Yan Xun was implying—the other party had indeed gone to the deck last night, had indeed seen the broken amulet at the bow of the ship, and had heard the crew members throwing players off the ship.
The bearded man also heard this, "How is that possible?"
He looked at Yan Xun, "I remember the amulet at the bow of the ship was good..."
He seemed unsure as he spoke, so he quickly stood up from the table and said, "I'll go check."
Gao Wen was initially shocked to hear that the amulet was broken, but he also became restless when he saw the bearded man leave the table to check.
Koren noticed the commotion. "What are you talking about?"
“We want to see the amulet at the bow of the ship,” Yan Xun said, turning to look at Coron. “I had a nightmare last night.”
Corren nodded knowingly, as if he hadn't seen Yan Xun on the deck last night.
"Then you do indeed need the protection of the sun god."
He waved his hand, indicating that the players could leave first.
Yan Xun glanced at Ke Lun again, still unsure of the NPC's attitude.
"Seeing the sun god might put your mind at ease."
"The whale whisperers said the weather was terrible that night when we were near the whale pod, and we might encounter a storm," Corren said.
"Fortunately, the sun god will protect us."
……
The bearded man was the first to rush to the amulet's location.
Seeing that the amulet at the bow of the ship was intact and undamaged, he breathed a sigh of relief. "It really was a nightmare."
The talisman at this moment is exactly the same as the one Yan Xun saw yesterday afternoon, and it is protecting the crew members on the Terror.
"It seems to be just a very realistic nightmare," Yan Xun said.
Knowing the truth, Wen Yuanzheng was very uneasy. He would rather the amulet be broken than not broken at all—if both were true, then what exactly happened on the Terror Ship that night?
Seeing that everything was alright, the bearded man and his henchman headed towards the refining furnace, planning to visit the captain's cabin sometime.
After the two left, Gu Jia looked at Yan Xun.
"Is it really broken?"
"Ah."
"It was split open with something." Yan Xun looked at the intact amulet and tapped the deck with his foot. "I was standing right here yesterday."
Gao Wen finally sensed something was amiss from the conversation.
He stared at Yan Xun in disbelief.
"...You really came to the deck last night?"
But he quickly sensed something was wrong. "If this amulet really malfunctions, won't we die in the Sea of Evil Spirits when the storm comes?!"
